Blaupunkt BE200 Budget Neckband Review: Got The Basics Right?

Pros

  • Budget price tag under Rs. 1500
  • Decent built quality
  • Good battery backup

Cons

  • Not super comfortable to wear
  • Audio distortion at peak levels

India has gradually become the one-stop destination for technology brands to introduce a wide range of consumer-centric goods. Smartphones and digital accessories are among the most sought-after consumer tech products in the country. Speaking of digital accessories, wireless audio products such as portable speakers, over-the-ear headphones, TWS earbuds, and neckbands have seen a significant boom in terms of sales in the last few years. German audio specialist Blaupunkt has also ventured into the Indian market space delivering quality products to the Indian audience.

Blaupunkt has introduced a series of wireless neckbands under its BE series. The Blaupunkt BE200 is one of the wireless neckbands that is designed for the budget masses. Priced at around Rs. 1299, the BE200 neckband can be purchased via online retail platforms in the country. But if you visit the shopping portals, you will be flooded with options in the wireless neckband segment.

Often, affordable pricing isn’t enough to drive the sales of any product; specifically audio products including wireless neckbands. This is where brands fiddle along with the design and features so that their products can easily stand out from the crowd. What unique features does the Blaupunkt BE200 brings to the table that lets it compete against its rivals? And is it a practical product for daily usage? Read on this review to know if this budget Blaupunkt Bluetooth neckband is worth a purchase?

Blaupunkt BE200 Neckband Review: Design And Wearing Comfort

The Blaupunkt BE200 features a standard neckband style. Blaupunkt has used both plastics as well soft rubber material to design this pair. Unlike the conventional neckbands, the Blaupunkt BE200 is a bit thick and bulky. However, the excess bulk is on the lower edges (the console) where the physical control keys and the USB port are placed. The left stem of the neckband houses three keys. You get the power key sandwiched between the volume rockers.

The quality of the keys is good and you don’t get any missed click feedback. Speaking of the controls, you can press and hold the volume keys to change the music track. A single tap on the power key will play/ pause music.

The same panel accommodates the USB Type-C port for charging and an LED panel to display the battery percentage. Now, this latter part is what we believe will grab the users looking out for something unique in terms of neckband design. Thankfully, the wires connecting the eartips and the neckband aren’t fragile.

No complaints there with the built quality. But we aren’t really a fan of the bulkiness. Specifically, while using this pair in the soaring temperatures in NCR in the last few months. It’s the lightweight form factor that gives us some relief.

The in-ear design of the earbuds offers a snug fit that keeps them from falling off easily if you are using the pair with outdoor activities. Again, the earbuds are bulky and you might struggle a bit initially to get used to wearing them comfortably. But once you get a hang of it, it is easier to put them on while on the go. The earbuds also have a magnetic latch option that hooks both earbuds and protects them from falling off when not in use.

Blaupunkt BE200 Neckband Review: Audio Performance

The Blaupunkt BE200’s driver size is unpecified. However, the frequency response range delivered by this budget wireless neckband is 20Hz-20KHz. This is a standard frequency range that you can find on budget earphones and headphones nowadays. As for the audio output, it is decent. The audio can get super loud at the highest levels.

But turning up the volume to the max might hamper your listening experience. That’s because the output sounds distorted and muffled when you fire up the volume levels to the max. And that’s not the case when you listen to the music at around 50- 60 percent volume levels. That has been our usual setting for audio playback. You might need to increase the volume levels if you are commuting in noisy backgrounds.

The Blaupunkt BE200 comes void of the Active Noise cancellation feature. Well, that’ll be criminal to ask with the sub Rs. 1500 asking price. But thanks to the design of the snug-fit earbuds, the audio listening experience isn’t hampered outdoors. The pair is able to block the surrounding noises passively. If we further emphasize on the audio performance, this pair sounds a bit stereophonic.  The audio clarity is average on this Blaupunkt neckband. The bass levels are mediocre not super punchy.

Blaupunkt BE Neckband: Calling And Connectivity

The Blaupunkt BE200 neckband supports Bluetooth v5.0 for wireless pairing with compatible devices such as smartphones, tablets, laptops, and PCs. The pairing process is simple and you just have to follow the standard connectivity procedure. Just press and hold the power key unless the earbuds go into the pairing mode.

You’ll see the notification LED flickering red and blue. Open the Bluetooth settings on your respective devices and select the name of the neckband to complete the pairing. Thankfully, the Bluetooth pairing process is swift. The Blaupunkt BE200 neckband is good with calling as well. We were able to make and answer calls without struggling with the audio quality.

Blaupunkt BE200 Neckband Battery Backup

The Blaupunkt BE200 wireless neckband packs a 600mAh battery which as per the brand offers 100 hrs of music playtime. The figures were close to our testing. But only when the audio was played at around 50 percent volumes. This budget neckband also features Turbo volt charging technology that adds around 10 hours of backup with 10 minutes of quick charge. This is a useful feature that will be helpful for the users traveling outstations with no easy access to a power plug.

Blaupunkt BE200 Wireless Neckband: Final Verdict

The Blaupunkt BE200 neckband is a decent pick in our opinion. This neckband is suitable for users demanding a durable pair with good audio output. And if your budget is below Rs. 1500, this Blaupunkt neckband makes for a good choice if you can compromise a bit on the comfort levels and can also workaround with not-so-punchy bass.

Blaupunkt Moksha BTW TWS Earbuds Review: Worth Buying For Daily Usage?

Pros

  • Better sound output
  • Good battery life
  • Comfortable to wear

Cons

  • Little expensive
  • Have a pairing issue

Everything is becoming simpler and better thanks to technology. The audio equipment is no exception. Earbud sales are booming right now. This is the time for wireless earbuds that looks stylish, comfortable to wear and offer a great user experience. The Blaupunkt Moksha BTW TWS earphones are one of the latest faces in this crowded space. We reviewed the product to see how it fares in daily life scenarios and against its rivals. Here is what we discovered:

What’s Inside The Box?

  • A pair of earbuds
  • Charging case
  • USB charging cable
  • Ear tips
  • User manual

Design

The Blaupunkt Moksha BTW TWS is entirely made of plastic. The square-shaped case with rounded edges offers a decent look. The charging case has a slider design that makes it stand out of the crowd. There is a USB Type-C charging port in front with a secure rubber casing that keeps it protected from dust and water. The hollow ring on the case lets you tie straps for easy portability.

Coming to the earbuds, it has a stem shape that looks discreet and fits well in the ear. The charging ports on each unit’s bottom are magnetized allowing the earphones to securely snap into their charging cases. They are also stable even when with vigorous head bang motions. Besides, the earbuds are resistant to sweat which makes them apt for rough usage.

The outer parts of the earbuds are touch-sensitive and can be used to control volume and media playback. A single tap on either side adjusts the volume, a double-tap on the right plays or pauses music and a long-press on either side on/offs the ANC.

Audio Performance

Coming to the sound quality, we couldn’t find a flaw in the Blaupunkt Moksha BTW TWS. It delivers a quite balanced sound pattern. It is specifically been designed to offer high-resolution audio. The earbuds offer decent music quality. The tuning is balanced with non-intrusive bass.

There are two mics on each earbud, one for talking, and the other for noise cancellation. Just for reference, these earbuds come with ANC support. The Active Noise Cancellation works fine with cutting unnecessary external noises. You will also enjoy clean conversations with no external noises.

Battery And Connectivity

You won’t have to charge the Blaupunkt Moksha BTW TWS often. The company claims that it can give you 4 hours of playtime in 15 minutes charge and we cannot challenge that. They do last long.

When it comes to connectivity, Bluetooth 5.2 makes wireless paring simple and quick. While connectivity is smooth, there are some hiccups too. We had to place the earbuds back in the case and start all over again to get it working. Sometimes only one earbud worked.

Verdict

For Rs. 5,999, the Blaupunkt Moksha BTW TWS earbuds do offer better sound output and battery life. It is perhaps one of the decent sets of earbuds in the mid-range segment that you can buy in India.

Blaupunkt BTW50 Budget Gaming TWS Review; A Good Pick Under Rs. 1,500?

Pros

  • Affordable price tag (below Rs. 1,500)
  • Funky design, lightweight form factor
  • USB Type-C port for charging

Cons

  • Average audio performance
  • Average build quality

The gaming industry across the globe has seen a huge surge in terms of user base in the last few years. Thanks to the tech advancements, we don’t have to solely rely on gaming PC/ laptops or dedicated consoles for gaming. Even smartphone brands are bringing in game-centric handsets for the masses. And to complement your extensive gaming sessions, you need capable accessories as well. Specifically, a good set of audio headsets would enhance the overall gaming experience.

Besides full-sized over-the-ear headsets, the TWS market is also consistently upgrading to suit the gaming requirements of the masses. Gaming TWS earbuds are one of the latest trends amongst the audio brands in the market. Blaupunkt which is a known player in the audio industry has started flooding the Indian market with consumer-centric audio products.

The brand is targeting the budget segment with its newest range of true wireless earbuds and neckbands. One of the offerings by Blaupunkt for the budget gaming audience is the BTW50 gaming TWS which brings a funky design and decent spec sheet to the table.

Priced at Rs. 1,199, the Blaupunkt BTW50 is one of the cheapest gaming TWS earbuds in the market. But how well the cheap price tag complements the overall performance? Is the Blaupunkt budget gaming TWS earbud worth a buy? We have been using the pair for a while now and have tested its performance thoroughly. Read on this review to know:

Blaupunkt BTW50 Gaming TWS Earbuds Review: Design And Wearing Comfort

The Blaupunkt BTW50 gaming TWS earbuds are one of the funky-looking TWS gaming earbuds that you can buy for under Rs. 1,500 in India. The hexagonal case with LED strips on the edges gives it an aggressive appeal which definitely will grab your attention in the first look. Bit the case is slightly bigger compared to its counterparts available in the market. But despite its large size, the case isn’t super bulky. Hence, the portability factor is not hampered; unless you are tugging them in small pockets.

The BTW50 gaming earbuds case comes with a flip-open design. But the magnetic latch isn’t super strong. This is one of the few drawbacks of the design. The plastic body seems to have average durability, so we would suggest you safeguard this product from accidental drops as much as possible. There are no physical keys on the charging case as well as the earbuds.

The latter has touch controls for media playback and volume controls. The case features a USB Type-C port for charging. You can either use the charging cable that ships with the retail box or can use any standard mobile charger that has a USB Type-C port.

The earbuds feature a standard in-ear stem design that lets you wear them comfortably. The default ear tips offer a sung fit design and you can ear the earbuds for prolonged sessions without any hassles. We had no difficulties wearing the earbuds for hours at a stretch. The Blaupunkt BTW50 TWS gaming earbuds comes with IPX5 certification that makes it dust and sweat-resistant. Do not that the charging port isn’t protected with any casing. Therefore, it should be handled carefully outdoors. Specifically, in rainy seasons or poolside.

Blaupunkt BTW50 Gaming Earbuds Review: Audio Performance

The Blaupunkt BTW50 gaming earbuds are packed with 10mm drivers. Now, these tiny earbuds deliver a loud audio output. But the output is stereophonic and hollow. Since these earbuds are designed s for gaming, the audio performance is better with specifically with gameplays. Music listening has been an average experience with this pair.

The audio clarity with music playback isn’t balanced. The vocals clearly take over the bass. In our opinion, this audio tuning is decent for gaming but not music playback. The bass level is decent not super heavy or punchy. The audio performance is satisfactory at around 60 to 70 percent volumes. If you fire up the volume levels to the max, you’ll experience distortions and muffling. Thankfully, the audio leak issue is least at peak levels.

This is a respite and fills up for the average output. Since this is a budget TWS earbud, it comes void of ANC (Active Noise Cancellation) support. But the snug-fit in-ear design does a fine job of blocking surrounding noises passively. The calling experience has been decent on both caller and the receiver’s end. No complaints there.

Blaupunkt BTW50 Gaming TWS Review: Connectivity, Battery Backup

The Blaupunkt BTW50 uses Bluetooth v5.2 for wireless connectivity with supported devices. It is compatible with smartphones, tablets, laptops, and even PCs. The pairing process has been hassle-free. The earbuds come in auto-pair mode as soon as you take them out of the case. Go to the Bluetooth settings menu on your smartphone and look for the earbud’s name and connect using the standard process.

We would to highlight that there was a bit of latency and intermittence with the connection. The audio breaks abruptly at times. However, this issue is not frequent and would pop up occasionally with the paired devices.

As for the battery backup, the Blaupunkt BTW50 is claimed to deliver around 26 hours of playback time. However, that’s the power backup with the charging case. The case is packed with a 200mAh battery, while each earbud pack a 30 mAh battery. The claimed backup is delivered only when you play the volumes at around 50 percent volume level. The backup significantly drops if you turn up the volume to the max levels.

Blaupunkt BTW50 Gaming TWS Verdict: Worth Purchasing?

The Blaupunkt BTW50 gaming TWS earbuds is just another new face in the affordable market. It is equipped with all the necessary features that can make it a good daily driver. However, there are a few shortcomings. Specifically, with the audio performance.

The distortion and muffling at the peak levels in one of them. It could have been one complete package if the audio output was balanced. Nevertheless, if you are considering getting yourself a decent true wireless earbud that looks funky, sounds decent, and doesn’t burn a hole in your pockets, the Blaupunkt BTW50 gaming TWS earbuds is a fair pick under Rs. 1,500.

Amazon Alexa Might Soon Speak In Your Late Relative’s Voice

Key Highlights

  • Amazon Alexa might speak in the voice of a deceased relative
  • Alexa will be able to hear that person speak for a minute and mimic the voice
  • Amazon said it wants to make memories last

Imagine if your smart speaker starts speaking in the voice of a deceased family member. Does it sound creepy or would it make you happy? Amazon is developing a feature that will let Alexa mimic the voice of your dead relative.

The new feature was described as a way to “make memories last” on Wednesday at Amazon’s Re: MARS (Machine Learning, Automation, Robots, and Space) conference.

Senior Vice President of Alexa Rohit Prasad gave a brief demonstration of a potential future function for Alexa, i.e., the ability to mimic voices. It’s equally shocking—or even more so—that Alexa would be able to imitate the voices of people we’ve lost or who are no longer with us.

While announcing the feature, Rohit Prasad stated that although artificial intelligence (AI) cannot take away the sadness of losing a loved one, “it can absolutely make the memories last”.

Prasad then played a video in which a young child asked Alexa “Can grandma finish reading me The Wizard of OZ”. On hearing the request, Alexa acknowledges the child’s request in her usual voice and begins reading in the child’s grandmother’s voice after responding “okay”.

It’s unclear how far along the feature is in development or when Alexa voice assistants might start receiving it. However, it does raise concerns regarding this technology being misused by cybercriminals and scammers. This could be misused that allow people to use the voice of celebrities or other people without their consent.

How Does This Feature Work?

If you’re curious as to how this feature works, Amazon told Engadget that the new talent of Alexa can produce a synthetic voiceprint of a person’s voice after listening to a recording of it for less than a minute.

The advancements that the company has achieved in text-to-speech technology are what drive it. Amazon recently released a whitepaper outlining these improvements in which it claimed that a “Voice Filter” may be used to mimic speech for Alexa in as little as one minute.
