Asus is the latest brand to revamp its gaming smartphone lineup in India. The company has launched two new ROG Phone 5S series phones in the country namely the ROG Phone 5s and the ROG Phone 5s Pro. Both Android gaming phones are packed with top-of-the-line hardware such as flagship Snapdragon 800 series chipsets, 144Hz display, and more. The pricing details and spec-sheet are mentioned below:

Asus ROG Phone 5s, ROG Phone 5s Pro Key Specifications

The standard Asus ROG Phone 5s features a 6.78-inch display which is a Samsung AMOLED panel that supports 1080 x 2448 pixels FHD+ screen resolution and 144Hz refresh rate. It is a 2.5D curved glass that is layered with Corning Gorilla Glass Victus for added protection. The display also supports HDR 10+ certification and a 144Hz refresh rate.

Under the hood, the Asus ROG Phone 5s uses the Snapdragon 888+ processor that clubs Adreno 660 GPU and 12GB LPDDR5 RAM. The handset has an onboard storage capacity of 256GB.

The imaging setup offered by the ROG Phone 5s comprises a triple-lens camera module at the back with a 64MP Sony IMX686 primary lens with an f/1.8 aperture. Additional sensors are a 13MP ultrawide sensor with an f/2.4 aperture and a 5MP macro sensor with an f/2.0 aperture. The device is packed with a 24MP selfie snapper with an f/2.5 aperture.

In terms of connectivity, the Asus ROG Phone 5s offers 5G, 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 6, NFC, Wi-Fi Direct, Bluetooth, and a USB Type-C port. The security aspects are taken care of by an in-display fingerprint scanner, while the firmware pre-installed is Android 11 topped with ROG UI.

Coming to the Asus ROG Phone 5s Pro, the hardware features are identical to the standard ROG Phone 5s. However, the Pro model is equipped with a secondary pMOLED display at the back with ROG Vision. Also, the ROG Phone 5s Pro has a higher 512GB UFS 3.1 internal storage capacity and 18GB LPDDR5 RAM configuration. Both Asus ROG Phone 5s and the ROG Phone 5s Pro are powered by a 6,000 mAh battery combined with 30W fast charging.

The vanilla Asus ROG Phone 5s is announced at Rs. 49,999 and Rs. 57,999 for 8GB RAM+ 128GB storage and 12GB RAM and 256GB storage variant respectively. The ROG Phone 5s Pro with 12GB RAM and 512GB storage is announced at Rs. 79,999. While the standard ROG Phone 5s is available in Phantom Black and Storm White color, the ROG Phone 5s Pro comes in Phantom Black shade only. Both models will be made available for sale starting February 18 via the e-commerce portal Flipkart.

Nubia RedMagic 7 Likely In Works; TENAA Listing Reveals Complete Specifications

Out of the handful gaming Android smartphone series is Nubia’s RedMagic. The ZTE-owned brand’s gaming smartphone series was revamped last year with the RedMagic 6. Now, its successor called the RedMagic 7 has apparently hit the production bay and could soon break covers in China. The same has been suggested by a fresh listing on Chinese mobile regulatory TENAA. What else the RedMagic 7’s certification website listing reveals? Take a look:

Nubia RedMagic 7 Specifications Leaked On TENAA

The Nubia RedMagic 7 has been spotted with the NX679J model number on TENAA. It made previous sightings bearing the same model number at other mobile authentication portals such as 3C and Bluetooth SIG. Now coming back to the features, the RedMagic 7’s TENAA listing mentions 170.57 x 78.33 x 9.5mm dimensions and 215gm weight.

The chipset listed is a 2.9GHz octa-core SoC (unspecified). However, looking at the trend, we can expect it to be Qualcomm’s latest flagship Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processor. The listing does hint at 12GB/ 16GB RAM and 128GB/ 256GB/ 512GB storage options. The RedMagic 7 will be launched with Android 12 OS which we can expect to be topped with an in-house UI.

The listing also mentions a 6.8-inch OLED screen with 1080 x 2400 pixels resolution. The refresh rate is not revealed, but we might see at least 120Hz or a higher refresh rate. An in-display fingerprint scanner for biometrics is also tipped. The listing suggests a 64MP quad-camera setup. However, the specifications of the remaining sensors haven’t been revealed by the listing. The selfie camera is also not revealed.

Other RedMagic 7 features listed on TENAA include a dual-cell battery with a 2,190 mAh rated capacity. The typical battery capacity could likely be 4,500 mAh which might get paired up with 165W fast charging. All the listed features hint at a high-end gaming phone in the making.

 Besides, Nubia is known for integrating game-centric features to the RedMagic series. Even the design is customized for a better gaming experience. We are waiting to see what all new features and improvements this upcoming gaming handset will be equipped with and if it would win the race amongst other popular gaming handsets.

iQOO 9 series has finally made it officially to the shelves. The new-generation gaming smartphone series has been launched in China powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processor. As expected, two new models have been launched this game-centric Android smartphone series called the iQOO 9 and the iQOO 9 Pro. Besides the latest-gen Qualcomm flagship processor, the iQOO 9 series is packed with some top-notch hardware such as OLED displays and 50MP triple-rear camera.

Both iQOO 9 series devices are packed with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processor. Both handsets have been announced with up to 12GB DDR5 RAM and 512GB UFS 3.1 storage configuration. The software used by both devices is Android 12-OS wrapped around the OriginOS interface.

Now coming to the displays. The standard iQOO 9 is packed with a 6.78-inch Samsung E5 OLED display. The panel supports 1080 x 2400 pixels FHD+ screen resolution and 120Hz refresh rate. The imaging setup used by the vanilla iQOO 9 at the back includes a 50MP main camera.

It is a Samsung GN5 sensor that supports OIS (Optical Image Stabilization) and is aided by a 13MP wide-angle sensor that has 120-degree FoV, and a 12MP depth lens. The vanilla iQOO 9 features a 16MP selfie camera.

The iQOO 9 Pro also packs a 6.78-inch display. It is a Samsung E5 10-bit LTPO display with curved edges. The panel supports a higher QHD+ resolution of 1440 x 3200 pixels and a 120Hz refresh rate. The imaging setup is slightly different compared to the vanilla iQOO 9.

The Pro variant accommodates dual 50MP sensors (main camera and ultrawide angle lens) and a 16MP depth camera. The selfie camera is the same as the vanilla model (16MP). Both models are driven by a 4,700 mAh battery combined with 120W fast charging.

Both iQOO 9 and the iQOO 9 Pro have currently made it to the Chinese market. The global launch is pending. Both these models are also confirmed to mark their arrival in the Indian market, but the details are at large. Speaking of the prices, the vanilla iQOO 9 with 8GB RAM and 256GB storage is launched at RMB 3,999 which is approximately Rs. 47,000 in Indian currency. The 12GB RAM and 256GB storage model will be sold at RMB 4,799 which is around Rs. 56,000.

Likewise, the iQOO 9 Pro’s 8GB RAM model has been announced at RMB 4,999 which translates to approximately Rs. 58,600. There are two 12GB RAM models. One is paired with 256GB storage and is priced at RMB 5,499 (around Rs. 64,000), while the other is clubbed with 512GB storage priced at RMB 5,999 (around Rs. 70,000).

Recent leaks revealed that the wait is over, and the relaunch of PUBG Mobile India will be released in India with its new name. Some news sources confirmed that the name change was the idea of the game developers.

In a poster recently came, there can be seen a player landing on Miramar and looking at its new title. PUBG India has been distributed by Krafton Inc., and the sources confirm that the game would retain its original quality better than before this time, and users will experience the best quality gameplay experience from PUBG mobile.

Krafton has already registered themselves in a new domain of website named “battlegroundmobileindia.in”. This registration was made on the 7th of April. 

Some recent leak about PUBG mobile India has come from GemWire, but the experts maintain a legitimate regarding the leaked information as they say that it has been copied from the website of PUBG Mobile India.

There was an official teaser video leaked as “India Recall Campaign Motion_v02.mp4” on the website, and the poster was found embedded in a link via a video came on Vimeo, which was released before Diwali 2020 saying “Diwali Coming Soon creative.” The post of GGWire’s Instagram page also says to have another private video collection on Vimeo with the above-mentioned thumbnail.

PUBG mobile was among the 117 apps banned by the government of India in September 2020, citing security concerns due to the apps having a Chinese origin. While the netizens have pacified themselves with the ban of other apps, anticipating for a PUBG 2.0 has been on the charts ever since then.

While none of the versions seemed to be tangible with the expectations of the fans, FAUG had created a lot of buzz with its flabbergasted launch. Akshay Kumar – the khiladi himself brought fame to India’s most awaited mobile action game by launching its teaser.

 While the app claimed to be much more than a rival to the infamous banned app PUBG, it didn’t seem to have flattered the fans after its release on the 72nd Republic day.

While FAUG has its own element of portraying the life of an Indian soldier, the gaming sleuths didn’t find it catchy, which led to a drop in the ratings of the app to 3.3 and thus redirecting the entire beef to square one.

Did This Month Bring In Good News For The Fans?

While the fans of the app have been hanging in there anticipating for the relaunch, Krafton, the Korean company that has taken over the PUBG mobile game rights after the ban,  gave out a heads up earlier this month claiming to have been preparing for the launch of an Indian version of PUBG.

The new game was recently announced in other markets and is up for pre-registration on Google Play and App Store for Android and iOS respectively.

“We are waiting for Indian government’s consideration and decision on our next plan with PUBG in the region” , quoted a Krafton communications representative.

What Has Been The Government’s Response?

The entire mystery around PUBG returning back caved in due to lack of open discussion amongst the Government and Krafton. While the two have finally started addressing the issue 6 months post ban, the return of the app seems more unlikely than ever. 

Earlier last week, the minister for information broadcasting said that his ministry has decided to form a gaming center to teach courses related to VFX. While the courses are all set to commence from this year, PUBG is more likely to not return back. 

He said that ” Prime minister Narendra Modi is extremely passionate about preserving and perpetuating Indian values and culture to the youth via modern technology being out to its optimum usage.

He also claimed that the Modi government wants to lead the nation into creating new games that promote Indian cultural ethos. Unlike PUBG which was addictive, explicit and violent” thus putting an end to the hankering of millions of fans.
