iQOO Eyeing 10% Market Share In Mid To Premium Segment In 2022, Says Nipun Marya

To drive its operations and growth in India, iQOO, an online sub-brand of Vivo, has made big changes in its leadership. The company has appointed Nipun Marya as its Chief Executive Officer for the country’s operations. For the uninitiated, Marya joined iQOO as CEO after serving as Director, Brand Strategy for Vivo India for five years.

Under his leadership, Vivo has managed to achieve the third position during the last quarter of this year. Notably, Vivo garnered a 15 percent share and became one of the top 5G smartphone players in the country.

Meanwhile, Giznext has managed to do interaction with iQOO CEO Nipun Marya regarding upcoming products and market share in 2022.

Q1 How is iQOO currently doing in India? (Post second wave of Covid-19)

iQOO is one of the fastest-growing brands in the Indian smartphone market and has positioned itself as a key player in a short span. The brand has recorded a growth of 671 percent in 2021. This year, the brand has launched multiple products like iQOO 7 Series, Z-Series, and more that offer a superior gaming experience.

Our smartphones like iQOO 7, Z5, and the Z3 are the highest-rated devices on Amazon. Additionally, the brand has recently achieved the milestone of selling 25 million smartphones globally.

Q2 Please brief us about your omnichannel strategy?

We have aggressive plans for this year. Right now, iQOO is an online-focused brand, but soon we might also be available in retail offline channels. Our focus is to be an omnichannel brand in the time to come.

Q3 What will be your focus areas in 2022 in terms of products lined up?

We are planning to launch performance-oriented products in 2022. In 2022, we will be focussing on the gaming experience with an aggressive product lined up.

We look forward to driving the next phase of growth for the brand as we open a new chapter, focusing on the premium performance segment and emerging as one of the leading smartphone brands in 2022.

Q4 What kind of market share are you looking at by the end of this year? Especially in the 5G handset market?

We want to double our online market share in the mid to premium segment from 5 percent to 10 percent in India by 2022. 5G is the future, and as a brand, our endeavour has always remained to offer future-ready products to our consumers. We will deliver high-performing and powerful devices, which are 5G ready.

Q5 What else can we expect from iQOO in the coming months?

We will continue to offer the best performance to the consumers with unparalleled technological experiences. iQOO will be seen strengthening its market presence and gaining the lead in the online segment.

We will also build up our premium and mid-segment portfolio as we move forward in our journey to double our online market share in the mid to premium segment from 5 percent to 10 percent by next year.
