Amazon Fire HD 6 is powered by a 1.5GHz quad-core processor. Apart from buying books available from the Kindle Store, you can also read DRM-free books that you have purchased from other sources online. These can be downloaded through various online portals and be transferred to your device. I have a lot of PDFs of books that I have bought or downloaded online through different sources and websites which I have transferred to my Kindle to read easily. Furthermore, to improve your reading experience especially for non-Kindle Store books, there are some features that can help. You can choose from a small number of fonts like Bookerly, Amazon Ember, Baskerville etc. that are really good. My favourite is Bookerly and I use that for all my books. You can also select the layout and adjust margins, orientation, alignment and spacing in that area. There are several themes as well to choose from plus you can also adjust the font size and even the weight (making text bolder), which is a really nice touch.

The battery is really good and even though I have been using this device for a long time now, the battery has not deteriorated and I can easily read on it constantly for almost a week before it needs to be plugged in to charge. The interface is easy to use and it does not lag plus the nest thing for me is that I can also read pdfs on the Kindle without any problems. You can adjust the fonts according to size and style and it's as good as a book you bought. You can also adjust the light in the settings and of course read on it as easily in the dark as you can outdoors without straining your eyes, or dealing with the sun's glare. Plus it is lightweight and very easily portable and travel-friendly so you can carry hundreds of books without it taking the place in your luggage of even one medium sized paperback. Highly recommend this one to anyone who's looking to switch to an e-reader that's gonna last long.
