Honda Motorcycle and Power Products Head- Operating Executive, Daiki Mihara, in a recent press brefing held in Japan revealed company’s plan to target the mass-market segment in India with a new affodable electric motorcycle. The first budget e-motorcycle from Honda will be targeted at the daily commuters seeking a budget ride.

The upcoming Honda motorcycle will be manufactured in India itself. The manufacturing will be done at the company’s dedicated EV plant which will be getting operational by 2028. To recap, Honda will be setting up the dedicated E2W manufacturing plant near Bengaluru, Karnataka. Bengaluru-based EV startup Simple Energy has revamped its e-scooter portfolio with the launch of updated Simple One e-scooter. The latest model introduced by the company is the Simple One Gen 1.5 which brings along enhanced features, improved performance and range, and more with a reasonable price tag. With its starting price below Rs. 1.70 lakh, the Simple Gen 1.5 is going up against the popular e-scooter models such as Ola S1 Gen 3 lineup, 2025 Ather 450 series, Hero Vida V2, and others.

Simple One Gen 1.5 Powertrain: What Are The Upgrades?

The Simple One Gen 1.5 takes forward the design cues from the standard Simple One e-scooter. It primarily offers an enhanced range and improved performance compared to its predecessor. The updated 2025 Simple One electric scooter employs a powerful hub electric motor producing 8.5 kW (11.4 bhp) of peak power and a peak torque of 72 Nm.

The motor pack on the Simple Gen 1.5 electric scooter gets dual battery packs including a fixed 3.7 kWh battery unit and a 1.3 kWh portable battery pack. With the combined 5 kWh battery setup, this e-scooter rides to a maximum distance of up to 248 km per charge which is significantly higher than the 212 km range delivered by the precursor.

It is capable of reaching a top speed of 105 kmph and can accelerate from 0-40 kmph within 2.77 seconds. The Simple One Gen 1.5 e-scooter comes equipped with multiple riding modes including Eco, Ride, and Dash. The 7-inch infotainment display is retained from the previous-gen model which displays real-time ride statistics. TPMS (Tyre Pressure Monitoring System), park assist, and navigation support are some of the additional features offered by the Simple One Gen 1.5 e-scooter

Maruti has designed the e-Vitara on an entirely new platform and is said to launch this compact electric SUV in dual trims. The eVitara could be offered with a 49 kWh and a 61 kWh battery pack options with the top-spec model offering up to 500 km range per charge.

The eVitara’s 49 kWh battery variant will be equipped with a front axle mounted electric motor, while the 61 kWh variant will come with an AWD setup. Maximum range produced by the e Vitara will be up to 500 km range per charge. Features included in the eVitara will range from dual screen setup, panoramic sunroof, 10-way adjustable driver’s seat, electronic parking brake, 360° surround view camera, ADAS, and more.

BYD India will be launching the Sealion 7 next week in the country. The Chinese EV maker has scheduled the launch of its coupe-style electric SUV on February 17, 2025. Pre-bookings for the Sealion 7 has already started in the country where the company is taking Rs. 70,000 as a token amount. BYD has announced free 7 KW standard charger on the purchase of the Sealion 7 along with an additional battery warranty that will be covering 7 years or 1,50,000 km whichever comes earlier.

The BYD Sealion 7 is an internationally available model. Just like the global markets, the Sealion 7 is expected to be launched in dual trims in the country called Premium and Performance. The Premium variant will be a single motor FWD unit with 373 hp of peak power and 380 Nm of peak torque. Skoda EV India Launch 2025

Skoda India was expected to launch the Enyaq iV in India. However, due to uncited reasons its arrival got delayed. But now, the brand is set to launch its first EV which will be an electric SUV this year itself in India (September 2025). Ola Electric’s latest electric scooter lineup, the S1 Gen 3 have become expensive within a week of the launch. Ola Roadster X Hidden Feature

Ola Electric’s CEO Bhavish Aggarwal, in a new post on X (formerly Twitter), have revealed a new hidden feature offered by the Roadster X electric motorcycle. The Roadster X comes with a removable seat beneath which the portable charger is integrated.

The short video shared on X shows the portable charger once removed leaves out a small boot space. This can be further used by the riders to carry around a variety of items. This is one of kind design approach being offered by any electric bike available in the Indian market. In the video, the one of the key safety features of the Roadster X is also highlighted. When a user charges the bike, the riding modes will automatically get disabled adding to the safety aspects.

Mahindra XUV 400 Electric: February 2025 Discount Details

Mahindra XUV 400 electric is the only EV model whose prices have been axed this month. The company has given a price cut majorly to the ICE models which include the Bolero, XUV 700, Thar, Scorpio, and the Marazzo. For the XUV 400 electric, Mahindra has announced a whopping Rs. 4 lakh discount.

It is worth adding that this offer is applicable only on the top two EL Pro trims of the XUV 400 electric. The combined price reduction on the upper two EL Pro models of the XUV 400 electric is definitely a hard to miss deal.

Do note, there’s a catch to this offer. Mahindra is giving discounts only on the XUV 400 electric’s MY2024 and MY2025 stocks. It’s the MY2024 stocks of the Mahindra XUV 400 electric which gets the maximum price cut of up to Rs. 4 lakh. On the other hand, the MY2025 units of the XUV400 electric are now cheaper by up to Rs. 2.5 lakh.
