MG Windsor EV Model Name Officially Announced

As mentioned above, JSW MG Motor India has finally confirmed the name for its first CUV in India. The company has revealed the upcoming electric CUV (Crossover Utility Vehicle) will be called as Windsor EV in the country.

The latest official teaser post shared by MG Motor India on microblogging website X further reveals the upcoming Windsor EV is inspired by the Windsor Castle, which is the emblem of a royal heritage and also an is an architectural marvel on its own.

MG Windsor EV Launch Date, Expected Price Range

MG Motor has not currently detailed the official launch date for the new e-CUV in the Indian market. But as per the available information, the brand is planning for its official launch sometime in September this year. There have been several reports that also hints at the expected price range of the Windsor EV which could be starting below Rs. 20 lakh. It is also indicated that the Windsor EV will be positioned below the outgoing ZS EV model.

However, a latest incident that has been shared by one of the E2W owners certainly brings major concerns related to service and maintenance costs associated with it. It seems getting your electric two wheeler scooter serviced can burn a big hole in your pocket. Here’s how a electric scooter owner got charged for general service higher than a standard ICE car and what the brand has said in response:

Sharing his ordeal on X, the user going by Eshwar handle shared the image of the Ather e-scooter’s service and maintenance bill. With an amount of Rs. 8,000, the electric two wheeler’s service charge seems higher than cars.

Raising concerns, the user shared a not stating “They said EVs have a low maintenance fee because it has fewer moving parts.” While this is true, the fewer parts which includes the motor, fans, and belt drives are prone to damage with daily rides and commutes. So getting them replaced remains the only solution for the consistent and reliable performance on any electric two wheeler

The owner notes that charges for basic servicing and replacement of two fans. Also, the e-scooter he got serviced didn’t meet any accidents that could have done some major damages to the physical parts. Any issues that he was experiencing with his electric scooter’s were apparently due general wear tear.

The owner’s Ather e-scooter for which he got charged Rs. 8,000 as a service cost is almost 4 years old with just 13,398 km distance travelled as per the odometer. Now, if it would have been a standard ICE scooter, the service cost would have been much lower considering there is hardly any major service or repair required within this timeline.

Any Response From The Company?

In a response, Ather Energy has asked the customers for contact details in order to reach out for clearing the disparities. The customers then highlighted how he has been trying to get Ather Service Pack for the last 2 months but without any success. It remains to be seen if there is any solution for this being given to the customers from Ather.

Conclusion

The National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) has announced that the UPI and IMPS services of some banks, as well as other payment systems, will be temporarily unavailable. The problem stems from a ransomware attack on C-Edge Technologies, a service provider to multiple banks.

Precautionary Measures By NPCI

NPCI has taken precautionary steps to restrict C-Edge Technologies from accessing NPCI’s retail payment systems. This would prevent it going any further and ensure that it does not have wider implications for the overall payments system.

“Customers of banks serviced by C-Edge will not be able to access payment systems during the period of isolation,” NPCI said in a statement.

Impact On Small Banks

Lawmakers have confirmed that about 300 small banks in India have been cut off from the country’s broader payment system. The purpose of this action is to prevent any widespread problems. While these affected banks are primarily small businesses with limited operations outside major cities, only about 0.5 percent of the country’s total payment system is expected to be affected.

Ongoing Audit And Cybersecurity Policies

India’s NPCI is now conducting an audit to prevent the spread of this cyberattack, which has affected some of the country’s 1,500 cooperative and regional banks These banks operate mainly in urban areas. Recently, the Reserve Bank of India and Indian cyber authorities had warned banks about possible cyber-attacks. The companies have confirmed that these cautions were issued in recent weeks.

Luxury car maker Land Rover is all set for its EV venture in India and the global markets with the upcoming Range Rover Sport EV. The all-electric version of the Range Rover has been under development and for the first time has been snapped in a production-ready avatar. How different does the Range Rover Sport EV looks? And is there any update on its powertrain? Let’s find out:

Range Rover Sport EV Test Mule Spied

The Range Rover Sport EV’s test mule has been spied for the first time. The initial spy shots without any camouflage wrapping gives us a clear look of the exteriors of the upcoming luxury sports electric SUV. The E-SUV gets minimalist alterations in design when compared to its ICE counterpart.

The spy shots of the Range Rover EV shared by motor.es shows the same slim-LED headlamps as the ICE model. Even the DRL (Daytime Running Lamps) are identical to the Range Rover Sport EV. The distinction in the exterior design of the Range Rover Sport EV and the Range Rover ICE mode is primarily in the grille design which does get a makeover highlighting EV-specific elements. However, the grille design seems incomplete at the moment which we might see with the future leaks.

This first leak of the Range Rover Sport EV model doesn’t give any glimpse of the interiors. However, we are expecting to retain the same design and features as the ICE counterpart. There might be a few changes here and there but there is no certainty of the same. That said, the exteriors of the Range Rover Sport EV shows missing exhaust which again is an EV-specific design. The connected LED tail-light is another similar design aspect as the ICE model.
