New WhatsApp security one should know

Today, privacy is one of the most crucial things to get secure in this world, especially when we have to believe someone else by sharing all our personal details.

Social media platforms like Whatsapp, Instagram, and Facebook play a major role, where almost everybody trusts blindly while sharing such a piece of crucial information. These all billionaires’ companies keep changing their privacy policy, disclaimer, and terms and conditions; however, no user using this platform reads that.

That’s why we here to tell you, all you have to. Whatsapp is the only platform in the world currently, where all users blindly do every personal and professional kind of stuff, and that makes hackers to do attacks on it to retrieve all user’s information.

What’s the security issue?

Therefore, Whatsapp recently changed its security to make its platform more secure. There is a new issue, or can say, the bug in Whatsapp by which anyone with the “Poor Hacking Skills” and with your mobile number can easily delete your account without knowing you and without your confirmation.

What can a hacker gain?

With this bug, of course, the attacker won’t acquire any of the user information and access to the user’s WhatsApp data, but you will definitely lose your account and end up losing all your chat data. And next time when you try to open WhatsApp, you have to create a new one.

As per the one report of Forbes, it is stated that security researchers Ernesto Canales and Luis Márquez Carpintero found that it is quite easy to block a user’s WhatsApp account by entering multiple times 2FA (Two Factor Authentication) code.

When the attacker attempts multiple times 2FA code, then automatically Whatsapp blocks the account for 12 hours. Then the attacker takes advantage by registering a new email id and requests Whatsapp to change their email address by giving the reason for the phone being stolen.

In this case, the Whatsapp support team, without any other verification from users, deletes the user account.

Sounds scary, right! But don’t worry, it is not that easy in real life. Because every time a user tries to enable two-factor authentication, it requires the OTP sent by Whatsapp. This particular means that the attacker must have access to your device to get that 2FA OTP. So the second step might sound easy for you, but the first one is not.

So to actually make this attack workable, the attacker has to know you and has the trust of you to access your device to get the OTP. Of course, you probably think that a remote attack is also a possible option for an attacker. But, no attacker chooses a remote attack just to delete someone’s WhatsApp account as it is very painful and risky.

Whatsapp adds a new two-factor authentication to safeguard that lets you know whenever someone is trying to open your account on another device to improve security. That’s why you can see continuous and not removable notifications by Whatsapp while using Desktop Whatsapp.

6M users data Leaked from Facebook

Over the past few decades, people are becoming more aware of their personal and professional data on the Internet. In the past, technology and treasure were the biggest things to citizens; however, in this 21st century, data is the most crucial thing for people as well as a company owner.

Almost every web application and mobile application mentioned in their terms and conditions that they will not use customer’s data for another purpose. Indeed, they do. Yes, they do it from the beginning.

They actively sell customer’s private data such as Name, Phone number, Email id, Address, Gender, and many other to sales companies to earn high margin revenue.

Unfortunately, the Billion dollars company, Facebook’s, data was leaked yesterday by a threat. A report from Indian media said that approximately 6 million user’s personal information was leaked. The number illustrates Indian users only.

The leaked data includes user information like – full name, Facebook id, current and past location, date of birth, the status of a relationship, and the entire bio.

The security team has researched that the data may be used for criminal activities or imitating a personal fraud. They also mentioned that the data might be a few years old.

The threat may be extracted from the user’s data from a Facebook bug in the “Add Friend” section, solved by the FB team back in 2019. However, they did not release data at that time and continued to circulate it until yesterday.

Are you worried about your data?

From the morning, almost every guy worried about whether their data was leaked or not? Are they composed in the 6 million lists? What should they do?

Don’t worry! To check whether you are exposed or not, there is a way.

A service, “Have I Been Pwned?” is run by the famous security specialist Troy Hunt. The program was created to help let people check whether they pwned or not by themselves.

If you also want to check your details, go to the website, and type your email id (whichever is registered with Facebook) in the given field. Click the button Pwned? And the system shows you are actually exposed or not? Here, the entire breached list is filtered by the user’s email id.

Luckily, if you are not exposed, then you will see the green signal. Except you will see the red signal.

In both cases, they advise all website visitors to secure their accounts and show the three methods for that.

Moreover, to update the service, the owner tweeted on his account that he will improve it as a user can also search whether they are exposed or not by entering their mobile number.

What should you do if you are on the list?

As of now, there is no security checkup and guideline for it. However, the team was continuously working to prevent the number of identities.

Instagram launches Remix on reels

After 29th June, when the Government of India officially banned 104 apps, including Tiktok, some people feel happy with the idea, while most of the creators were against this.

Surprisingly, after that, lots of companies try hard to get the place of Tik Tok in the Indian market. That’s why lots of applications like – Instagram Reels, MX Taka-Tak, Josh, Moj, Mitro, and a lot more are developed.

At first, Instagram surprised everyone with their new feature “Reel” on the day 5th August. They again came back with a new feature in Reel, which will help creators create content or video more creatively.

After continuously pushing Reels, a short video feature in India, they now added one of the Reels’ Tiktok features. The update is called Remix, which helps creators create a new video and post it with the existing ones.

If you can not remember correctly, this feature is the same as Tiktok’s Duets that enable users to re-post or reply to an existing video with their own new video.

As sometimes ago, Facebook announced that they launched the Instagram Reels on Facebook Feed; however, the option not for all creators but only for top and most famous creators.

Now there are some rumors that now Facebook will add the whole featured Reel on Facebook too. Unfortunately, there were no announcements by Facebook or Instagram on it.

What are the other features to be expected?

Instagram becomes a massive part of everyone’s lives. Not only this, people find it the only platform to offer the best AR effect, Live Rooms, Poll feature, and post stories and photos whatever and wherever they want.

As people are waiting for new features and services in Reel from last year, it’s launched. Some extra features in Reel were listed out by Instagram’s one of the announcements.

They said that they are planning to provide 30 seconds of short video recording instead of 15 seconds. Moreover, auto-capturing and recording the countdown timer will be extended from 4-5 seconds to 10 seconds, which is much more needed for everyone.

Perfect video recording is not the easy job that everybody can do. Even significantly fewer people can do it. That’s why Instagram will also provide the video editing tool to trim and delete some video portions and create attractive short video clips.

Furthermore, there will be a new feature added on Instagram, where the users can browse the latest and trending songs on Instagram, share their own audio clips, and share them with everyone.

How Remix works

  • You have to find a Reel first, which you want to do a duet with.
  • Tab Menu and select the option “Remix this Reel”.
  • After clicking the option, the screen will be divided into two-part. Right side, you will see the original video, and left side yours.
  • Now you can easily record your video as you both have original video and sound.
  • There are lots of editing tools to apply once you have recorded the video.

Facebook and Reels: New Feature In Town

The short video space that was dominated by TikTok in the yesteryears is currently banned by the government and Instagram is aggressively pushing its short video platform, Reels. In this article, we will look into the new feature of Reels.

As we all know Instagram Reels is all the craze nowadays this is due to the absence of TikTok in India. Reels are the short video platform that Instagram launched to cater to the huge audience who viewed short videos daily.

The new feature that is being tested by Facebook allows a Reel creator to upload their Reels on Instagram and Facebook simultaneously.

When shared to Facebook the Reels clips would be visible in the Facebook News Feed and Facebook Watch. In the future, the probability of the main Facebook app getting its version of the Reels feature is very high.

Integrating Reels Into Facebook: The Newest Thrill Amongst Content Creators

This feature enables a Reel creator to share their curated content across both platforms and then your Reels will show up on the Facebook timeline of your Reels.

To share the Reels clips, the selected individuals can share them to the existing News Feed sharing options like Friends, Public, or a custom device.

The content creators have to “allow” both platforms to interact with each other. The 30-second long clips will be shown with their Instagram username, not their Facebook account.

Since this is a very revolutionary feature the company is testing this feature with selected individuals. Only a few celebrity users can choose to enable this feature as of right now.

Pooja Dhingra, Bong Guy, Awez Darbar, Ashish Chanchlani, Pankaj Bhadouria, and key public figures such as Suresh Raina, Sanjeev Kapoor, Harbhajan Singh are a few of the people who have gotten access to this feature.

Creating Reels On Facebook: Let’s Know Some Insider Details

In a recent press release, Facebook Inc. provided the media with a multitude of details on how a content creator/ celebrity could access this new feature.

If the selected individuals give the app the necessary permissions, then they can use the Reels option situated just above the Facebook Newsfeed.

When you use the camera to post updates, there is now an option to add those moments to a Reel clip, or you can also upload video clips from the camera roll.

There is an option to add video clips from the camera and gallery at the same time if one would prefer to do so.

A very compelling video can be created by using all the features of the Reels software like inspect and trim to edit multiple video clips at the same time.

All these editing tools are readily available to the user in the camera section. The creative tools reside on the right side of your camera screen that you can use to create your reel. These were all the details shared by Facebook executives in the press release.

AR Filters And Audio Effects: Some Cherry On The Cake!

There are multiple ways to add audio to your Reels clip. You can choose to embed songs from the extensive Facebook music library. You also have the option to record a Reel normally and use the audio that you have recorded.

Adding audio from the camera before capturing a clip or adding audio later after capturing a clip is also a viable option.

There is also a vast library of AR filters created by Facebook and other content creators on the platform, which you can freely use to make your Reels very creative.

The timer and countdown tools are very handy for a lot of content creators who show their talents through Reels.

You can set a timer to record a clip without using your hands, this makes it easy for dancers to record their sequences.

The hassle of managing the shutter button is not a problem anymore if you use this feature. The speed of the clips can be manipulated so that your audio and video are in sync.

Making slow-motion videos or an accelerated video are two things you can do with this incredible feature.

This update is a clear sign from Facebook about the seriousness they have for the Indian market. They want to develop the Reels platform as the next big thing that people use daily.

The exposure that content creators will gain from this move will be humongous and this, in turn, will attract more people to use the Reels feature. Facebook is being relentless and wants to completely take over the short video audience in India.
