Realme GT 6 Quick Review In Points: AI Flagship Killer?

Realme revived its most admired performance-league lineup the GT series last month in India. The comeback was made with the GT 6T. And now within just a month, another top-end model has been added to this lineup called the Realme GT 6. This latest model offers top notch features such as the Snapdragon 8S Gen 3 flagship processor, the brightest 6000 nits display, 50MP Sony LYT 808 camera, and super-fast 120W charging under Rs. 40,000. As interesting as a whole package it sounds, does it really pack that punch? Here’s a quick review that will clear this air.

The Pros

Top-Notch Hardware For Gaming

This has to be the top highlight of the GT 6. Equipped with the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 processor, the GT 6 feels fluid with just all the tasks. Of course, gaming would be its prime forte. We have been testing the review unit for a while now and have been fairly impressed how fast it is with operations.

Realme is offering the GT 6 with up to 16GB RAM which makes it more reliable with performance. Storage option is up to 512GB which will be meeting the demands of avid and pro gamers. We will share our final thoughts with the GT 6’s performance delivery in the coming days.

Also Read: Realme C65 5G Long Term Review: The Pros And Cons

Class-Leading Cameras

Realme GT 6’s camera takes the limelight too. The primary setup at the rear gets the flagship 50MP Sony LYT808 sensor. Now, this is an upgrade over the Sony LYT600 lens offered by its sibling, i.e., the Realme GT 6T. Detailing gets real with the OIS enabled primary lens. But what makes the camera game stronger for the Realme GT 6T is the 50MP Samsung JN5 telephoto lens.

With this the GT 6 can offer premium DSLR like portrait shots. Realme has also incorporated advanced features such as AI night video which will be a pleasant deal for the shutterbugs. Selfie camera on the GT 6 is a 32MP lens which has offered some refined shots during our initial testing. We will share the camera shots with different set of backgrounds in our comprehensive review analyzing its full potential.

Powerful Backup Clubbed With 120W Super Fast Charging

Performance isn’t solely limited to gaming with the GT 6. It has segment’s biggest battery pack (5,500 mAh) combined with 120W fast charging. The larger battery pack is fully capable of handling the demanding performance providing backup of more than a day (as per brand claims). We are testing the battery performance to thoroughly and will share the feedback soon.

Bright And Clear Display

The tall 6.78-inch screen which is an AMOLED panel is another solid feature that the GT 6 offers. The panel has 6000 nits peak brightness which makes it the brightest panel out there in the market. You get a clear screen which is responsive and visible under the harshest sunlight. The display gets 120Hz adaptive refresh rate for a fluid touch response elevating gaming experience overall. For high-res video playback too, the GT 6’s screen is a visual delight.

Also Read: Truke Buds Q1 Lite TWS Review: Soundstage Apt For Daily Use?

The Cons

Well, there is hardly any con which you’ll find looking at the overall package the GT 6 is. But the smudge prone rear panel will take a hit in our opinion. Of course, the design is all premium and ergonomic. However, the shimmering rear panel of both the color variants is the only con that can be counted. but despite a massive screen, it fits well into the palms and is easy to operate too with the basic usage. The large camera island with metallic rings around the lens looks appealing. It’s a robust looking handset with the metallic framing all around and the Corning Gorilla Glass display protection.

Also Read: imoo Watch Phone 7 Quick Review

Our Take

Touted as the AI Flagship killer, the GT 6 is setting up new standards with the price to specs ratio. And that’s what we have found this latest GT series edition to be in the initial impressions. It has potential to be the best-in-class gaming phone giving its counterparts a tough beat in the ring. But this isn’t our final verdict. We will be coming up with the detailed review detailing the user experience with the GT 6.

Design: Thin is in

Elegant – that’s the perfect word to describe the Vivo X Fold 3 Pro. At first, it might fool you into thinking it’s just a slightly thicker regular smartphone, until you notice the seamless fold. That’s when it hits you – this is no ordinary phone; it’s a marvel of engineering.

With a profile so sleek, it’s easy to mistake it for a non-foldable model. I mean, I once had it in my hand, and someone mistook it for the X100 Pro. That’s how subtle its foldable nature is.

Now let’s talk specifics. At 245g, it’s lighter than your average smartphone, yet it packs a punch with its glass fibre back, aluminum alloy frame, and carbon fibre hinge. These materials not only make it look premium but also ensure it can handle the hustle and bustle of daily life.

When unfolded, it’s just 5.2mm thick, giving it that ultra-modern feel. And let’s not forget about durability. Thanks to its armored glass and sturdy hinge, this phone can take a beating and keep on ticking.

Speaking of the hinge, Vivo claims it can handle up to 500,000 folds without a noticeable crease. Impressive, right? I couldn’t help but put it to the test, and while I did notice a slight crease on the inner screen at certain angles, it didn’t bother me during regular use.

On the right side, you’ll find the power button, volume rockers, and an alert slider – a handy addition borrowed from iPhones or OnePlus phones, but nonetheless useful. And let’s not forget about water resistance; with an IPX8 rating, this phone has got you covered in case of any spills or splashes.

In short, the Vivo X Fold 3 Pro is a masterpiece of design and engineering. Elegant, lightweight, and built to last – what more could you ask for in a foldable phone?

Display: A Visual Delight

When it comes to the displays, the Vivo X Fold 3 Pro truly shines. Like most foldable phones, it features two screens: one on the outside for quick tasks and a larger one on the inside for immersive experiences.

The outer screen, at 6.53-inch strikes a balance between usability and portability. It’s perfect for those moments when you don’t want to unfold the phone but still need to get things done comfortably.

But the real magic happens when you unfold the X Fold 3 Pro. Suddenly, you’re greeted with a whopping 8.03-inch canvas that’s just begging to be filled with your favorite videos, games, or web pages. Both screens boast vibrant AMOLED panels with great color reproduction and deep blacks, making everything look beautiful.

And let’s talk about brightness. With up to 4,500 nits, these screens outshine most TVs, making them perfect for outdoor use even under Delhi’s blazing sun. Plus, with support for HDR10+ and Dolby Vision, your content will look nothing short of spectacular.

But beauty isn’t everything; durability matters too. That’s why Vivo has equipped both screens with tough glass – Armor Glass for the outer screen and Ultra-Thin Glass (UTG) for the inner one, ensuring protection against scratches and bumps. Also, the in-display fingerprint scanner works seamlessly on both screens. Though adjusting to the scanner position on the main screen may takes some time.

Performance: Powerhouse with Smarts

This phone is like a superhero when it comes to performance. It runs on the latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset, which is yet to make it on other foldable devices. This is the same processor you will find in other high-end phones, which means it’s really fast and can handle anything you throw at it without any problems.

Whether you’re juggling multiple tasks simultaneously or diving into intense gaming sessions, the X Fold 3 Pro doesn’t break a sweat. With 16GB of RAM and a whopping 512GB of storage, there’s room for all your apps and files.

During my time with the phone, I didn’t encounter any slowdowns or hiccups. App loading was quick, multitasking was a breeze, and even gaming was a delight. However, I did notice that the phone tended to get a bit warm, especially during prolonged usage, especially in the scorching Delhi heat. But hey, can you blame it?

On the software front, Vivo has equipped the X Fold 3 Pro with its own Funtouch OS 14, optimized for the two-screen form factor. Most apps run seamlessly on both screens, thanks to clever optimization. And speaking of screens, transitioning between them is buttery smooth, thanks to the well-integrated software.

But wait, there’s more. The X Fold 3 Pro isn’t just about raw power; it’s also got brains. AI features abound, from AI-assisted note-taking to live screen translations and AI-powered image enhancements. Whether you’re jotting down meeting summaries or smarten up up your photos, the AI capabilities of this phone elevate the user experience to a whole new level.

Overall, the Vivo X Fold 3 Pro isn’t just a powerhouse – it’s a smart powerhouse. With top-of-the-line specs, seamless multitasking, and AI smarts, it’s a force to be reckoned with in the world of foldable phones.

Camera: Capturing Excellence

If you love traveling, you’ll appreciate a good camera, and that’s often missing on most foldable phones. For years, foldable phones have compromised on camera quality, but the Vivo X Fold 3 Pro breaks this trend. The prominent “Big Eye” camera bump on the back shows just how serious Vivo is about photography.

The Vivo X Fold 3 Pro has an impressive camera setup, featuring a 50MP main camera, a 64MP Zeiss telephoto camera with up to 3x optical zoom, and a 50MP super wide camera. The front has a dual-camera setup, each with 32MP sensors, which is quite rare these days. Developed in partnership with Zeiss, the camera system includes vivid, textured, and natural color modes. The periscope lens allows for detailed close-up shots.

I’ve tested the X Fold 3 Pro in various conditions, from the scorching heat of Delhi to the dark of night. The color tuning is impressive, with natural and pleasant colors that aren’t oversaturated. The detail in the images is exceptional, with everything in the frame looking sharp, even when zoomed in.

The ultra-wide shots are almost as good as the main camera, with excellent detailing, color accuracy, and sharpness, even at the edges. Portrait shots are another highlight, with the ability to shoot at different focal lengths. The post-processing creates near-perfect bokeh effects, making the portraits look almost DSLR-quality. Although the camera tends to beautify or soften facial tones, it’s a minor issue in an otherwise stellar performance.

The 70mm telephoto lens is versatile, offering up to 10x optical zoom and digital zoom up to 100x. Clarity is decent up to about 50x, and the shots at 3x and 10x are sharp and detailed. The macro capabilities are also impressive, capturing intricate details that are hard to achieve with most smartphones.

Night shots are another strong point. They are well-lit, crisp, and free from noise, with few phones matching the X Fold 3 Pro’s sharpness in low-light conditions.

The front camera, however, might be a bit too processed for some tastes. While some people might like the polished look, I prefer more natural selfies.

Additionally, the device supports 8K video recording and 4K portrait videos, making it a versatile tool for photography enthusiasts. The Vivo X Fold 3 Pro truly excels in the camera department, setting a new standard for foldable phones.

Battery: Lasting Power

Foldable phones often struggle with battery life since they need to power two screens. However, Vivo has tackled this problem head-on with the X Fold 3 Pro. They’ve managed to fit a 5,700mAh battery into this slim and light device. Using the phone feels refreshing. I spent an entire day taking photos and still had a decent amount of battery left by evening.

Charging is a breeze with the 100W fast charging support. This feature is a game-changer for a phone with such a large battery. It takes about 50 minutes to go from 10 percent to 100 percent. Plus, there’s 50W wireless charging, which is rare for foldables and adds to the convenience.

Overall, Vivo has done a great job with the battery life and charging capabilities of the X Fold 3 Pro, making it a solid choice for heavy users.

Giznext’s Final Verdict

The Vivo X Fold 3 Pro makes a grand entry into the foldable segment with its style, charm, and impact. My experience with it has been delightful. The slim profile and superb cameras contribute significantly to this wonderful experience. Priced at Rs. 1,59,999, it is expensive, but not surprising for a high-end foldable phone.

In the short time I’ve spent with the X Fold 3 Pro, it appears to be a solid contender in the foldable phone market. It has a sleek design, a large screen that remains pocketable, powerful hardware, a big battery with fast charging, and cameras that rival some of the top-tier camera phones. However, the high price will likely be a barrier for many potential buyers. Foldable phones are still relatively new and more expensive compared to even the high-end traditional smartphones, making them a significant investment.

If you’re in the market for a foldable phone and have the budget for it, the Vivo X Fold 3 Pro is worth considering. It offers an attractive mix of features and is sure to draw attention.

From Smartphones To Dumbphones: Why Gen Z Is Going Retro?

Key Highlights

  • Gen Z is switching to dumbphones to reduce anxiety, depression
  • The Newtro trend and nostalgia for retro tech driving the move towards simpler devices
  • Concerns about privacy are leading Gen Z to choose dumbphones

In today’s tech-driven world, where high-tech gadgets are universal, an unexpected trend is emerging among Generation Z. Many young people are ditching their smartphones in favor of ‘dumbphones’—simple, featureless devices reminiscent of early 2000s flip phones. This shift is driven by a desire to escape the negative impacts of excessive screen time and digital connectivity. What Are Dumbphones?

Dumbphones, also known as feature phones, are basic mobile devices that primarily support calling and texting. Unlike smartphones, they lack internet access, apps, and advanced features, offering a simpler and distraction-free experience.

The Appeal Of Simplicity

The ‘dumbphone’ boom is part of a broader movement towards digital minimalism. Gen Z is increasingly concerned about the mental health issues linked to prolonged smartphone use, such as anxiety, depression, and reduced attention spans. A recent World Economic Forum report highlights that excessive screen time contributes to loneliness, addiction, and stress among young people. On average, Gen Z spends 7.2 hours per day on screens, a factor contributing to their poor mental and physical health.

The Rise Of The Boring Phone

In response to these concerns, products like The Boring Phone have gained popularity. Launched in April at Milan Design Week through a collaboration between Heineken beer and fashion retailer Bodega, this featureless flip phone has caught the attention of Gen Z. By offering only basic calling and texting capabilities, it allows users to reduce their screen time and focus on real-life interactions.

Nostalgia And The Newtro Trend

This shift towards simpler technology is also fueled by nostalgia. The Newtro trend, which revives retro cultural artifacts, has seen a resurgence in vinyl records, cassettes, and old-fashioned phones. For instance, the relaunch of the iconic Nokia 3310 in 2017 sparked a wave of interest in retro phones. More recently, flip phones have gained traction, especially among TikTok users who popularized the #bringbackflipphones hashtag.

Market Response

Companies like HMD, behind the Nokia relaunch, and Punkt, which markets minimalist phones, have seen substantial sales increases. However, despite this growing interest, research firm Mintel notes that 90 percent of phones are still smartphones. Nonetheless, there is a clear trend of Gen Z modifying their smartphone behavior, with three in five expressing a desire to be less digitally connected.

Privacy Concerns

Privacy concerns also play a significant role in this shift. According to the Portulans Institute, Gen Z is more wary of privacy breaches on social media platforms. This awareness drives their preference for simpler devices that don’t constantly track their activities.

A Silent Trend Gaining Momentum

Interestingly, this move towards digital minimalism among Gen Z has been a silent trend for some time. Research from GWI indicates that Gen Z is the only generation whose time on social media has declined since 2021. While completely going offline is challenging in today’s connected world, the revival of older technologies provides a middle ground that appeals to young people seeking a balance between connectivity and mental well-being.

Conclusion

The rise of ‘dumbphones’ among Gen Z reflects a broader desire to reclaim control over their digital lives, driven by mental health concerns, nostalgia, and privacy issues. As this trend continues, it may pave the way for a more mindful approach to technology use.
