Realme Plans To Launch 15 New Categories Of AIoT In 2022, Says Madhav Sheth

Realme has announced the launch of its Narzo 50 smartphone in India. The Realme Narzo 50 is powered by a MediaTek G96 processor and a 5,000mAh battery for Rs. 12,999. Meanwhile, Giznext has managed to interact with Madhav Sheth – Vice President of Realme and CEO of Realme India and Europe about the upcoming products, performance of the Narzo series, and market share.

How is Realme currently doing in India? (Post second wave of Covid-19) 

Despite the pandemic hitting the company’s plans, still, 2021 was proven to be a great year for us as we have achieved numerous milestones and growth in the market. In 2021, we launched several new categories such as hearables, wearables, smart TVs, laptops, and tablets.  

Every quarter was remarkable as we have become the most trusted technology brand. In Q3, we witnessed cumulative shipments of 100 million smartphones and ranked no. 6 in the global smartphone market. In Q4, 2021, we became the second-largest smartphone brand with a 17 percent market share as per the Counterpoint research report.

How many smartphones have you launched in the Narzo series? 

We have launched 12 smartphones in the Narzo series, and we are glad to share that we have achieved numerous milestones with this series. Notably, we introduced the Narzo series with the launch of the Narzo 10 in 2020 and the Narzo 30 Pro 5G series with 5G technology in 2021, followed by the Narzo 50 series. 

Now with the launch of the Narzo 50, we are bringing the best processor and display smartphone in the segment that is equipped with MediaTek Helio G96 Gaming processor. 

What kind of response have you received from the Narzo series and what is the USP of the same series? 

Since its debut in 2020, the Narzo series has been a huge success. We have received a tremendous response from our Narzo series and we are proud to share that now we have 7 million Narzo users in India. 

Moreover, our Narzo series takes our “Power Meets Style” advantage to the next level, with best-in-segment gaming processors, fast charging, and a massive battery, and ensures a better experience for our gaming enthusiasts.

What kind of sales and revenue Narzo series is generating? 

We would like to share that the Realme Narzo series accounted for 24 percent of the overall Realme smartphone sales in 2021.

Please brief us about your upcoming 5G devices in the affordable segment? 

We have already launched our first series of 5G smartphones in 2022, i.e Realme 9 Pro series. Also, we are closely collaborating with chipset manufacturers to ensure that our devices are equipped with the most up-to-date 5G processors.

Following the footprint of democratizing 5G technology in India, Realme will be launching 13 5G-enabled smartphones in 2022, which means more than half of Realme handsets will be 5G-enabled. 

You are into the digital accessories segment, so how do you plan to strengthen the portfolio? 

Since 2020, we have made the transition from being a smartphone brand to a holistic Tech brand, entering one new category per month and continuing to enhance our Realme TechLife ecosystem for users. 

We plan to enter 15+ new categories of AIoT products in 2022 and introduce 50+ AIoT products to give flexible solutions to empower users in their daily lives. Also, we want to become India’s no. 1 smart audio online tablet, and wearables brand this year. 

What kind of market share are you looking at by the end of this year with a smartphone portfolio? Especially in the 5G handset market? 

The company has managed to sell more than 2.5 million units last year and this year we aim to double it. We have already launched the first series of 5G smartphones this year and the smartphones come with the latest and most powerful 5G processors.

This year, we will be focussing on growing our premium smartphone range with additions to the Realme GT series. We are sure that the GT series will accelerate our premium segment growth.

What else can we expect from Realme in the coming months? 

We have many exciting things coming up. Following the Realme Narzo 50 launch, we will launch our much-awaited Realme GT 2 Series on February 28th in MWC 2022. 

The Realme GT 2 Pro from the Realme GT 2 series features a biopolymer back cover, a 150° ultra-wide camera, and the company’s Innovation Forward Communication. We will be launching World’s Fastest Smartphone Charging Technology on Feb 28th, 2022.
