Tecno is one of the smartphone OEMs that has gradually grabbed the budget and mid-range Android smartphone market in a short span. The brand has several dedicated lineups with which it is giving a tough time to the existing pioneers in this market. Tecno Camo is one of those lineups which is being consistently upgraded with trendy and practical phones meeting most of the users’ demand. The Tecno Camon 20 Pro 5G launched recently in the Indian market pits against some of the popular affrodable 5G phones in the Indian market.
But if you have a budget of around Rs. 20,000, you probably will be left dazzled with the numerous options available in the market. Tecno on the other hand, is offering a complete package with the Camon 20 Pro 5G in this budget. But is it just on papers or in real life scenarios as well? We in this review article are sharing our long term user experience with the Tecno Camon 20 Pro 5G. Read on to know more:
Tecno Camon 20 Pro 5G Design, Display Review: Appealing And Handy
The Tecno Camon 20 Pro 5G takes design cues from postmodern architecture as per the brand. The flat frame design clubbed with puzzle-deconstruction texture at the back adds to the handset’s visual appeal. But what makes it good to feel is the leatherette texture at the back panel which is soft to touch. The camera module is also geometric-shaped (pentagon) which stands out from most of the conventional camera designs.
The flat frame design further adds to the premium feel of this handset and allows easy portability for daily use. The phone might seem a bit bulky; specifically with the case. However, you wouldn’t experience any difficulties with sliding it into the pockets. Thanks to the textured back panel, you remain stress-free of scratches as well fingerprint smudges. Of course, you can use the soft TPU case for an added protection but be ready to feel the heft.
Both volume keys along with the power key is placed on the right panel, while the SIM card tray sits on the left spine. Notably, the Camon 20 Pro 5G comes with a hybrid SIM slot hence, you would only be able to use a single SIM along with a microSD simultaneously. At the bottom, this smartphone has the usual ports placement including a 3.5mm headphone jack, a USB Type-C port, and speaker grille. Overall, the Tecno 20 Pro 5G’s design is elegant yet it stands out from the crowd.
Talking of the display panel, the Camon 20 Pro 5G sports a 6.67-inch screen upfront. The panel used is AMOLED and it features a centrally-aligned punch-hole camera cutout for the selfie snapper. The screen of the affordable Tecno 5G phone has an FHD+ resolution of 1080 x 2400 pixels and a refresh rate of 120Hz. Now, the display specs are good when we look on papers.
The performance is also adequate. By default we found the screen to be slightly warm in colors in the default settings. This does reduce eye strains to some extent but you can also toggle on the Eye care mode if you intend to binge watch movies and shows or play games for long durations. Since the handset uses an AMOLED panel, the color accuracy is to the point.
No overtly saturated colors are visible on the screen irrespective of the content type. The screen also has a Widevine L1 certification that allows it to stream FHD content via OTT platforms including Netflix, Amazon Prime Videos, and others.
Besides, the 120Hz refresh rate makes sure the frame drops are least and the frame transition is smooth despite extensive graphics. You might need to toggle on the highest settings if you wish to get the best of graphics visuals with graphic-hungry games. Nevertheless, the Tecno Camon 20 Pro 5G is one of the few affordable 5G phones with which you get an AMOLED screen that is vivid with color production.
Tecno Camon 20 Pro 5G Performance Review: Satisfactory With Daily Use
The Tecno Camon 20 Pro 5G is the first Android phone that has been launched with the MediaTek’s latest Dimensity 8050 chipset. This new mid-range 5G processor is fully capable of handling all the basic tasks without any lags or stutters. In fact, you will get a decent usage experience overall with this chipset.
We have used the Camon 20 Pro 5G with ‘n’ number of tasks and have got a fair experience each time. This phone provides a lag-free experience with web surfing and other mobile applications. It is speedy with app launches and thanks to the 8GB RAM, multitasking experience is also at par with the competitions. You wouldn’t notice any delays while firing up apps which is impressive for a mid-range handset.
Besides, switching between different apps is also swift with the high RAM capacity. Notably, the handset is launched in a single configuration and the storage space onboard is 128GB. Of course, you can expand the built-in memory using an external SD card. However, you won’t be able to use dual SIM at that point considering the SIM slot is hybrid.
Tecno has loaded the Camon 20 Pro 5G with Android 13 OS. The user interface accompanying the Android OS is HiOS 13 which is still full of bloatware. Due to this the UI looks cluttered unlike the stock Android where you get a neat UI for daily use.
Tecno Camon 20 Pro 5G Camera Review: Fairly Good In All Settings
Tecno has been betting high with the Camon 20 Pro 5G’s camera performance. This mid-range Tecno phone uses a total of three camera sensors at the back where the setup includes a 64MP main camera. It is a RGBW (G+P) main lens which has an f.1.65 aperture and has an OIS (Optical Image Stabilization) support. The primary sensor here is paired up with a 2MP macro and a 2MP depth sensor. The default camera shots where you don’t modify any settings are good.
The large main sensor size is apt for capturing good level of details. No blurs or dilapidation is visible with the captured shots when the backgrounds are well lit. While there are a few dedicated camera modes that are added to enhance the photo/video quality, the camera output is justified with the default settings itself.
For instance, the built-in AI mode tends to oversaturate the colors instead of enhancing the washed out colors. Low light imaging quality is average. We wouldn’t say the night photography is the Camon 20 Pro 5G’s forte but you can get decent quality overall with the low-light shots using the Super Night mode feature. This mode does reduce the level of grains and distortion in night photography and improves the overall dynamic range.
The Tecno Camon 20 Pro 5G’s is strong with its selfie game. This affordable 5G Tecno phone employs a 32MP selfie camera which can capture detailed self-portraits. All the shots captured using the selfie camera are worth social medial uploads. The same AI cam mode is available for selfie shots as well using which you can capture enhanced self portraits.
For the shutterbugs who need a capable mobile camera within budget, this phone offers good satisfaction. Besides, the video recording capabilities are also good with this Tecno Camon series phone and you can even record Slow-motion and time-lapse videos.
The Tecno Camon 20 Pro 5G has a 5,000 mAh battery that can easily deliver a backup of more than half a day on a single charge. You can get the maximum juice out of the battery if the device is used moderately. Hefty gaming or app usage will drain the battery fast. The compatible 33W fast charging allows battery refuel from zero to 100 percent within 1.5 hours.
In the ever-evolving pursuit of capturing the perfect selfie, many contenders have entered the arena, using innovative sensors, flashes, and more in their quest – yet, arguably, none have achieved definitive success. With its new entry, Vivo is taking claim for the prize. Also Read | Vivo Y100 Detailed Review: 100 Percent Complete Package Or A Mixed Bag?
Renowned for delivering great cameras at wallet-friendly prices, Vivo’s V series smartphones have carved a niche for themselves. The latest addition, Vivo V29e, takes this reputation a step further. Over the past few weeks, we’ve been using the Vivo V29e and have been genuinely impressed by its performance. So, can the Vivo V29e rekindle the era of dedicated selfie phones while also standing its ground as a capable smartphone? In this review, we’ll delve into every facet of the Vivo V29e’s offerings to determine if it’s worth your money.

Price & Availability
The Vivo V29e is priced at Rs. 26,999 for the base variant and Rs. 28,999 for the higher configuration in India. You have the option to select between Artistic Red or Artistic Blue color variants. Notably, the Artistic Red choice features color-changing technology. The phone will be up for purchase on both Flipkart and Vivo channels.
Design
The Vivo V29e smartphone boasts the slimmest 3D curved display on the front and a curved back design. It showcases two circular camera islands on the back that house a dual rear camera system. Whatever your views are on curved displays, the Vivo V29e prominently features a pronounced one. Holding the V29e feels pleasant, and its slimness allows for comfortable one-handed use. Weighing 180.5g, it strikes a balance between being large without becoming heavy.
The back design, particularly in the Artistic Blue version we used, has been given a unique finish. The Glossy Matte Splicing texture creates a diamond pattern on the back. If you appreciate a dual-texture finish, Vivo V29e will undoubtedly catch your attention. Two color options are available, Artistic Red and Artistic Blue, with my review unit appearing in the latter.
The smartphone follows a standard layout with a USB-C port, speaker grill, and SIM tray located at the bottom. On the right side, you’ll find the power button and volume rockers, while the top and left sides remain blank. Despite the slim profile and dual-curved design of both the back and front, Vivo has ensured that the buttons on the V29e are tactile and easily accessible.
On the whole, the Vivo V29e offers a satisfying in-hand experience. Its curved back and screen contribute to an overall sleek package that’s enjoyable to use. Although it can be a bit slippery, the included clear TPU case helps with grip. Even with the case on, the phone maintains its slim profile and remains easy to manage.
Display
The Vivo V29e features a 6.78-inch FHD+ AMOLED display that’s elegantly curved and comes with a 120Hz refresh rate. With a resolution of 2400 × 1080 pixels, 453 PPI, and support for HDR10+ playback, this screen truly stands out. It is curved on the sides and I must say that it is one of the most beautiful-looking displays that I have seen in this category. The minimal bezels on the sides and the small top and bottom bezels further contribute to its sleek look.
Thanks to HDR10+ compatibility, content viewed on platforms like YouTube appears vibrant and detailed. In everyday use, the display maintains accurate colors. The color reproduction is impressive, and the screen remains easily visible even in sunlight. With its 6.78-inch size, the display lives up to its large dimensions, offering an enjoyable video-watching experience. Whether it’s playing games, browsing the internet, watching videos, or reading, all these activities are pleasurable on the Vivo V29e. The 120Hz refresh rate adds to the smooth and fluid nature of the overall experience.
Processor
Moving to the internals, the Vivo V29e is driven by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 695 chipset, coupled with 8GB of RAM. The device offers two storage choices: 128GB and 256GB, both of which provide enough capacity to manage the demands of the Android system.
In everyday usage, the Snapdragon 695 performs well. It manages multitasking, and app-switching, and even handles some games smoothly. While there were a few instances of animation stuttering, particularly during the initial setup, the phone generally exhibited speed and responsiveness once everything settled in.
Nonetheless, for avid gamers, this might not be the most optimal choice. Games like Call of Duty and Battlegrounds Mobile India had to be adjusted to lower graphics settings for smooth gameplay. However, if your typical usage involves activities like scrolling through Instagram, messaging on WhatsApp, web browsing, and similar tasks, this phone proves quite capable.
Coming to the speakers, while clear and loud, lack bass. Notably, there’s only one speaker, meaning a stereo effect isn’t achievable. On the software front, the Vivo V29e operates on FunTouch OS 13, based on Android 13.
Now onto what truly uplifts the Vivo V29e – its camera capabilities. This smartphone boasts a 64MP primary camera that has optical image stabilization, accompanied by an 8MP wide-angle sensor. On the front end, the selfie camera boasts an impressive 50MP resolution, complete with auto-focus and a wider f/2.45 aperture to enhance the quality of well-lit selfies.
The real star of the show is the primary camera. It delivers amazing photos brimming with plenty of detail and sharpness. Colors exhibit vibrant characteristics, leaning slightly towards a more vivid side. The images are clear, show an expansive dynamic range, and have minimal noticeable noise. Even when confronted with challenging lighting conditions, the V29e shows its prowess in capturing a wide array of details – a feat that even top-tier flagship smartphones often struggle to achieve.
The camera continues to shine in low-light scenarios. Thanks to the built-in OIS, it effectively captures a good amount of light. Nonetheless, the performance of the ultra-wide angle camera and monochrome sensors is a bit underwhelming. There’s a noticeable decline in overall quality, sharpness, detail, and color when using these features. However, if you don’t use the ultra-wide camera often, it should suffice for occasional shots. For optimal outcomes, relying on the primary camera and selfie shooter is your best course of action.
Speaking of the selfie shooter, the Vivo V29e boasts a 50MP front-facing camera equipped with auto-focus and an f/2.45 aperture. This smartphone consistently delivers great front-facing shots. Selfies are full of details and sharpness, consistently leaving a positive impression with their top-notch quality. All in all, if selfies rank high on your priority list, the V29e will undoubtedly meet and exceed your expectations.
Battery
The Vivo V29e is equipped with a 5,000mAh battery, and its performance is truly great. During my usage, I easily sailed through an entire day without facing any difficulties. This comprises using the phone for activities such as emailing, web browsing, taking photos, and playing videos. Much like the standard capability of most modern smartphones, the V29e comfortably offers a full day’s worth of usage for the majority of users.
Impressively, the V29e provides fast charging support at 44W. To be precise, it can go from completely flat to fully charged in just under 45 minutes.
If I had to find a small drawback, it’s worth noting the absence of wireless charging, which can be somewhat disappointing. However, in all honesty, I didn’t find myself missing it too much due to the genuinely great battery life that the V29e delivers.
Verdict
So, considering whether to invest in the Vivo V29e? If your criteria include a lightweight device that provides a comfortable grip, showcases an impressive display complemented by well-integrated software, and features outstanding camera performance – all without a steep price tag – then the Vivo V29e can be your ideal choice.

Design
When it comes to the phone’s appearance, it’s available in two colors: Dark Illusion, the one we have here, and Silver Fantasy. Personally, I’d lean towards the Dark Illusion option. The back design is quite impressive, setting it apart from other phones in its price range.
The back of the phone features four LED strips. Three of them are linked together, forming a cool triangular pattern. This unique design gives the phone a futuristic look with a touch of geometric beauty. Additionally, there’s a coil-style decoration that adds a mechanical texture, contributing to a futuristic aesthetic. When you take all these design elements into account, including the LED strips, the coil, and some metal-like patterns, the phone looks like a mecha from the future.
The glass back and chrome sides tend to collect fingerprints, making the phone look messy quite quickly. The power key on the right side also doubles as a fingerprint sensor. The volume buttons are on the right, while the SIM slot is on the left. The bottom houses the USB Type-C charging port, microphone, speaker grille, and headphone jack. On the top, there’s another speaker grille.
Although the Pova 5 Pro isn’t incredibly slim, its weight of 214g is manageable, and I find it comfortable to use. The phone’s frame is smooth, allowing for easy edge swiping without any interference.
Overall, I’m genuinely impressed by the Pova 5 Pro’s external design. In the same price range, I couldn’t find any other brands that paid such attention to the design. Even when compared to some high-end gaming phones, the Pova 5 Pro’s appearance still stands out.
Display
The Tecno Pova 5 Pro sports a large 6.78-inch LCD display that boasts a 120Hz refresh rate and full-HD+ resolution. During my brief time with the phone, I observed that the display provides enough brightness for indoor usage, but it struggles to remain easily readable when used outdoors during daylight hours. Nevertheless, the display does offer vibrant colors and sharp visuals. The 120Hz refresh rate also contributes to a smoother and more enjoyable user experience.
It’s worth noting that the absence of HDR certification for streaming content is noticeable, and some users might find the support for HD content with WideVine L1 insufficient. The presence of backlight bleeding around the punch-hole for the front camera and slightly larger-than-desired bezels might raise concerns for some users.
However, for those who prioritize a large display with a high refresh rate within this price range, the compromises might be acceptable. In my opinion, the viewing experience is pleasant enough for everyday activities.
Performance
The phone is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 6080 5G SoC, which capably manages most tasks, and gaming tends to run smoothly at their recommended settings. The Pova 5 Pro comes in two variants, with either 128GB or 256GB of storage, both paired with 8GB of RAM.
Playing games at medium graphics settings and achieving a 45fps output for titles like BGMI and Call of Duty Mobile is quite satisfying. The ample VC (vapor chamber cooling) system effectively maintains the device’s temperature during extended gaming sessions, and less demanding games operate effortlessly.
Additionally, the device offers a good stereo speaker output, delivering impressive depth without crackling even at high volumes. I also appreciate the quick performance of the side-mounted fingerprint scanner for unlocking the phone. As for its 5G capabilities, the device performs well enough for usage in the Delhi NCR region.
The Pova 5 Pro runs on Tecno’s custom HighOS software, which imparts a unique touch to the Android 13 base. This customized approach ensures a distinctive interface tailored to the smartphone’s capabilities.
Unfortunately, the device suffers from an abundance of pre-installed apps and a cluttered user interface that might deter certain users. On a positive note, the inclusion of customization choices and features like Game Space, designed to optimize gaming performance, are welcome additions.
The design of the quick settings drop-down menu could be improved, and the overall software experience might feel somewhat hindered. Nonetheless, the commitment to delivering software updates for a span of up to two years is a positive sign. With a few improvements, the software experience of the Pova 5 Pro could be significantly elevated.
Camera
The back of the phone houses a camera arrangement consisting of a 50MP primary sensor along with a depth sensor. Positioned on the front is a 16MP selfie camera. Returning to the camera setup, the inclusion of a 50MP sensor is a notable addition to a gaming-oriented phone. It captures fairly decent photos with accurate colors, particularly in well-lit conditions. I was especially pleased with the Beauty mode. This seems to be Tecno’s forte, and I’m glad to see that the algorithms have been retained in the Pova 5 Pro. There’s a pleasing balance with the beauty effects, avoiding any excessive enhancements.
When it comes to recording videos, it’s a bit disappointing that 4K video recording is not available. However, all things considered, the cameras on the Pova 5 Pro are more than sufficient for daily capturing and sharing, especially considering its price point.
Interactive LEDs
The LEDs on the Pova 5 Pro serve a purpose beyond decoration. They offer interactive features by syncing with music, games, notifications, and various other functions.
This dynamic aspect introduces an element of both entertainment and usefulness, enhancing the engagement level of the smartphone experience. Interestingly, the back design of the Pova 5 Pro might trigger a sense of familiarity, reminiscent of a popular smartphone.
The primary standout feature of the Pova 5 Pro 5G is what Tecno refers to as the Arc Interface, represented by the illuminated LEDs beneath the back panel. These LEDs illuminate in different colors during activities like charging, booting up, receiving notifications, and even when you’re listening to music. While these LED lights are visible in well-lit indoor environments, they’re less visible when outdoors under bright sunlight. You can personalize the speed at which the lights flash through a dedicated menu, although the available options are fairly limited.
Battery
One of the standout features of the Tecno Pova 5 Pro is its battery life. Equipped with a 5,000mAh battery, it guarantees extended gaming and entertainment sessions without the worry of running out of power. The 68-watt fast charging capability is a game-changing addition. Using this technology, the Pova 5 Pro can achieve a 50% charge within just 20 minutes, and a full charge in only 45 minutes.
The bypass charging feature, designed to maintain lower temperatures while ensuring fast charging, further enhances convenience. Offering a full day’s worth of usage on a single charge with up to six hours of screen-on time is quite great for most users.
Verdict
The Tecno Pova 5 Pro stands out as a great option within the mid-range smartphone category. Its design, gaming capabilities, and battery performance are all noteworthy. If you’re into gaming and appreciate a distinct appearance, this phone is definitely worth considering. What’s even more significant is that we don’t have to break the bank for high-end gaming features; the Pova 5 Pro provides an alternative without the premium price tag.
