WhatsApp New Last Seen Privacy Feature: When Is It Coming?

WhatsApp has started working on the option to let users hide their last seen from a specific contact. A fresh report via WABetaInfo hints at this latest development. Currently, the feature to hide last seen from specific contact is being tested for the iOS app. As of now, WhatsApp only lets the user hide their status from selected users on both Android and iOS apps. However, users have been asking for the option to hide their last seen as well from select contacts.

Once the stable version of this feature is released, WhatsApp users on iOS would be able to hide their last seen either from all contacts or some select users. The company should soon start testing this last seen hide option for the Android platform as well.  We might see the brand adding this option to iOS devices initially followed by Android.

It is currently not known if the brand will be releasing a stable version of this new feature in the coming months or later this year. But with the latest privacy feature being under the testing phase, it shouldn’t be long before the company brings this option to the Android and iOS platforms. The option to hide the last seen from specific contact would be completed in just a few steps. The procedure would be identical to hiding the last seen from all users on WhatsApp or from specific contacts on WhatsApp status.

Step 1: Open the WhatsApp application. From the home page go to the settings menu (three dots on the top right).

Step 2:  Click on the ‘Account’ option.

Step 3: Now, select the privacy tab and click on “last seen”.

Step 4: Select the “My contacts except” option and add the contacts or users from whom you want to hide your last seen.

Step 5: Click on Done.

We would like to highlight that the steps mentioned above would only work once WhatsApp officially releases the stable update to hide last seen from specific contacts. If you try to perform these steps now, you only will get to select between “Everyone”, “My contacts”, and “Nobody”. Following the update, you will be able to select the “My contacts except” option to hide the last seen.

It is good to see that WhatsApp is constantly improving its privacy ecosystem on its platform. Samsung could add the Galaxy M53 5G silently to the Indian shelves if it plans to skip hosting an online launch event. If in case the brand decides to stream the event live, it would be on the company’s official YouTube channel.

The Samsung Galaxy M53 5G’s pricing details are not known at the moment. The teaser poster shared by the tipster only confirms the upcoming launch along with the design and some of the key specs that the latest Samsung Galaxy M series phone will offer. Considering the Galaxy M53 5G packs mid-tier hardware and Samsung generally keep affordable pricing for the Galaxy M series phone, we can expect under Rs. 25,000 price label.

The Galaxy M53 5G’s extra set of features includes Android 12 OS topped with an in-house OneUI 4.1 interface and an in-display fingerprint scanner for biometrics. The battery capacity packed would be a 5,000 mAh unit with 25W fast charging technology.

This detail falls in line with the previous leaks. This octa-core Qualcomm chipset is currently powering the new-generation premium Android smartphones globally.

Furthermore, the Geekbench listing also mentions a 12GB RAM configuration. The Geekbench listing doesn’t reveal the Xperia 1 IV’s storage capacity. But possibilities are Sony pairs up this RAM capacity with at least 256GB storage capacity which has become a norm for modern generation flagships. It is yet to be confirmed if Sony will launch this handset in other configurations or just the single 12GB RAM option.

The Sony Xperia 1 IV will have the Android 12 OS pre-installed as per the Geekbench listing. The handset might feature a custom skin on top. Apart from these features, the Geekbench listing only details the benchmark scores. The next Sony Xperia flagship scored 1,204 points in the single-core test and 3,352 points in the multi-core test.

Currently, there is limited information related to the Sony Xperia 1 IV’s specification. We are yet to get the Xperia 1 IV’s display, camera, and battery details. This chipset has been tipped for the budget Pixel 6 model via previous leaks as well. Notably, Google has developed this powerful mobile chipset series specifically for its Pixel smartphone lineup.

The Pixel 6a will be launched with dual RAM and a single storage configuration of 6GB/8GB RAM and 128GB storage configuration. Whether or not there will be expandable storage support has been not confirmed yet. The leaked spec sheet also details the remaining Pixel 6a features such as display, camera, and battery.

According to the leak, the Pixel 6a will feature a 6.2-inch display. Seems like this budget Pixel series phone will have a bigger panel compared to the previous-gen models.
