Chinese automaker Baojun has launched a new electric SUV in its home country. The latest offering comes in the form of Yep Plus which is essentially a 5-door e-SUV based on India-bound MG Comet EV platform. Almost identical to the Yep 3-door variant in terms of design and features, this new electric SUV is claimed to offer around 401 km range per charge and 150 kph top speed. Is Baojun Yep Plus coming to India anytime soon? Let’s find out:

Bajoun Yep Plus Design

The Baojun Yep Plus as mentioned above is a 5-seater electric SUV. It is built on the Global Small Electric Vehicle Platform which is also used by the India-bound MG Comet EV. But despite sharing the same platform, Baojun Yep Plus offers a spacious cabin and better road presence. Of course, its an SUV and we can’t overlook that fact. This electric SUV has a 2,560mm long wheelbase,  1,760mm width, and 1,726mm height. ORVMs are mounted on the front door instead of the usual c-pillar mounting.

Baojun Yep Plus Electric SUV Powertrain

Baojun hasn’t specified what battery capacity is used ti drive the Yep Plus 5-door electric SUV. But it is being indicated that it will get a larger battery pack compared to the 3-door Baojun Yep EV. This infomation can be validated with the fact that Yep Plus e-SUV will offer a 431 km range which is higher than the 303 km per charge range offered by the standard Yep.

The Yep Plus 5-door e-SUV will use an electric motor mounted at the rear axle. This motor is said to be of 102hp capacity that will push this electric SUV to up to 150 kph top speed.

Can We Expect Baojun Yep Plus To Launch In India Anytime Soon?

Well, that remains uncertain. The fact tge Bajoun will mark an entry into the Indian market with its EV lineup is unlikely in the coming years. But we already have one EV which shares the same platform with the Baojun Yep Plus. Hence, the possibilities of its arrival can’t also be ruled out entirely.
