Introducing UI Enhancements

In this latest update, one of the most prominent changes is the addition of a Photo/Video toggle button. Positioned at the bottom, this switch allows users to seamlessly switch between photo and video modes. Furthermore, Google has introduced a new settings button on the left side, providing easy access to the camera’s settings. Swiping up also opens the settings menu. As a result of these additions, the upper part of the camera app is now uncluttered.

Streamlined Navigation

The update also rearranges some buttons for improved navigation. The gallery button now resides on the left side, while the camera switch button is on the right. Google has also made mode changes, with the ‘Motion’ tab expanding to include ‘Long Exposure’ and ‘Action Pan,’ while ‘Cinematic Pan’ is now simply ‘pan’ in the new Google Camera.

Aesthetic Tweaks

Notably, the app icon for Google Camera has been enlarged to align with the new design aesthetics.

Limited Availability For Android 14

It’s important to note that the Google Camera 9.0 update is exclusively compatible with Android 14. Therefore, only users with Pixels running the Android 14 beta can currently download and install this update. Initially expected to debut with the Pixel 8 series, Google surprised users by rolling out the update starting on September 7. Older Pixels running Android 14 will also receive the update simultaneously.

Upcoming Pixel Launch

Looking ahead, Google is gearing up for the launch of the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro smartphones on October 4. Alongside these highly anticipated devices, Google will also introduce the Pixel Watch 2 and Pixel Buds Pro during the same event. MediaTek has silently unveiled the Dimensity 7200 Ultra chipset as a successor to the standard Dimensty 7200 SoC in its home country China. This new processor is yet to make its debut in the global market which we assume could take place in the coming months. Moving ahead, the Dimensity 7200 Ultra is also an octa-core 5G processor similar to its precursor but is the first ever mobile chipset from MediaTek which is constructed using a thin 4nm TSMC process.

The Dimensity 7200 Ultra’s octa-core CPU cluster includes dual Cortex A715 cores clocking at 2.8Ghz and hexa Cortex 510 cores with a 2GHz clock speed. Tata has launched two different variants of the Nexon EV Facelift electric car. There is a Medium Range (MR) and a Long Range (LR) variant. Both Tata Nexon EV Facelift MR and LR model are equipped with a Gen 2 electric motor. The base model, i.e., the Nexon EV MR variant is capable of producing 95kW peak power and 215NM of peak torque. It can deliver a range if up to 325km per charge (ARAI certified) and can accelerate from 0-100 in 9.2 seconds.

The Tata Nexon EV Facelift LR (Long Range) model has a bigger 40.5kWh battery pack and a better 106.4kW peak power. The range is also higher with this model, i.e., 465km per charge. This model can reach 0-100 kmph within 8.9 seconds. The Nexon EV facelift LR model takes around 4.3 hours to charge from 10-100 percent, while the LR model takes around 6 hours for the same.
