Identifying The Problem

Investigations revealed that the root causes of these network issues were primarily attributed to inadequate network infrastructure, widespread weak signal coverage, and a significant number of abnormal network cells. To combat these issues, OPPO established a dedicated network development team last year.

Introducing LinkBoost

After three months of extensive research spanning six countries and involving over 100 network improvement tasks, OPPO unveiled its innovative solution: LinkBoost. This proprietary technology aims to ensure smooth and stable connections, particularly in areas with poor network signals.

How LinkBoost Works

LinkBoost operates through a combination of hardware and software enhancements. OPPO smartphones equipped with LinkBoost feature a 360-degree surround antenna design to capture signals effectively from all directions. Moreover, intelligent software optimizations facilitate seamless network selection, ensuring optimal connectivity even in challenging environments.

Devices such as the OPPO F25 Pro 5G and Reno11 Series, integrated with LinkBoost, offer significant improvements in signal strength and stability. Users can expect enhanced call clarity and faster data transmission, along with reduced instances of call drops, especially in areas with weak signal coverage like elevators and underground parking lots.

Testing The Results

To validate the effectiveness of LinkBoost, OPPO conducted rigorous testing comprising over 200 experiments and analyzing more than 300 user case studies. The results demonstrated remarkable improvements, with up to an 80 percent enhancement in WhatsApp video call reliability in weak signal areas. Additionally, there was a notable reduction of 24.6 percent in call drops observed in challenging locations such as basements.

Both phones will feature a high-quality AMOLED 120Hz display.

Exclusive Launch In India

The new P Series will be exclusively available in India and will be sold through Flipkart. Targeting the mid-range market, these phones are expected to support 5G and boast powerful chipsets, in line with the emphasis on ‘power’.

Affected Devices and Versions

According to CERT-In, this vulnerability affects iPhones and iPads running on iOS and iPadOS versions before 17.4.1. If you have an iPhone XS or a newer model, or an iPad Pro 12.9-inch 2nd generation or later, you’re safe with version 17.4.1. But if you’re using an older model, like an iPhone 8 or an iPad Pro 9.7-inch, you’ll need the 16.7.7 update.

Even Apple’s Safari browser is affected. Versions before 17.4.1 on macOS Monterey and macOS Ventura have the vulnerability. MacBook users on macOS Ventura versions prior to 13.6.6 and macOS Sonoma versions prior to 14.4.1 are also at risk.

The warning extends beyond iPhones, iPads, and MacBooks. Users of the Vision Pro headset should be cautious, as versions before 1.1.1 of VisionOS are also vulnerable.

The issue comes from problems in WebRTC and CoreMedia, which can let hackers manipulate web links to attack devices remotely. If they succeed, they can take control of your system.
