Until now, there has been no provision with which one could send WhatsApp messages directly from a smartwatch. WhatsApp WearOS App: What Is It?
WhatsApp previously revealed the arrival of its standalone Wear OS app during its annual developer conference I/O back in May 2023. The brand made this app available to beta testers back then. Now, the standalone WhatsApp WearOS app is made available to the masses globally. This new WhatsApp app for WearOS is compatible with all the smartwatches that are running on Wear OS 3.
With this new app, users will now be able to not only read WhatsApp messages but also reply to messages, use emojis, and also answer VoIP calls. All this can be done on a smartwatch without the need to use smartphones. The WhatsApp WearOS app is gradually rolling out to compatible devices. The mass rollout is expected to be completed soon.
Previously, users only could see WhatsApp message notifications on their respective smartwatches. However, with the option to send messages both text as well as audio, it becomes a wholesome messaging experience.
Who Can Use WhatsApp Wear OS App For Text And Audio Messaging?
The standalone Wear OS app can be downloaded via Google Play Store. WhatsApp version 2.23.14.81 is said to be supported by the latest Wear OS for WhatsApp. After the download is complete, one can simply send texts or make voice calls.
It is worth mentioning that the text messages and voice calling using Wear OS for WhatsApp are also end-to-end encrypted. This will assure the user’s privacy isn’t compromised and all personal and private conversations remain safe.
