Google Releases Encryption For Gmail: It’s An Added Security With Some Conditions And Limitations

Google has finally revealed the most awaited feature for its email services. The tech giant is introducing end-to-end encryption for its Gmail on the web in order to improve privacy and increase the safety and security of email deliveries. Only Google Workspace Enterprise Plus, Education Plus, and Education Standard accounts—i.e., typical education accounts—can use the service, which is presently in beta.

Google has stated that through January 20, 2022, all of its enterprise users are eligible to join up for the Gmail client-side encryption beta. With the new client-side encryption for Gmail Web, user data and attachments will be secured and inaccessible to all other parties, including Google. As a result, the security of all sensitive user data in emails with attachments would be more secure.

End-To-End Encryption: Why It Is Helpful?

Users’ email messages will be encrypted by the sender and only be able to be decrypted by the intended recipient on their device thanks to end-to-end encryption in Gmail. The messages and attachments sent with the email cannot be decrypted or read by a third party, organization, or even Google’s own email server.

Notably, Google currently offers client-side encryption on Google Docs, Sheets, Drive, and Google Calendar (beta). Now that the feature is available to Workspace users. However, individual users would need to wait a little while before they can use the feature with their own Gmail accounts.

Users of the workspace will be able to send and receive encrypted emails inside or outside of their domain once they sign up for client-side encryption. Google makes it clear that the new feature would encrypt both the email content and all attachments, including embedded photos. Google, however, will not encrypt the email’s header, which contains the topic, timestamps, and recipient lists.

Samsung has used an almost similar set of hardware to power the Galaxy A04 and the Galaxy A04e. The primary difference between both these entry-level Galaxy A series phones is the camera. The Galaxy A04 and the Galaxy A04e are packed with LCD displays. The screen size is 6.5 inches on both displays, while the resolution is 720 x 1600 pixels HD+.

The display on both these budget smartphones supports a standard 60Hz refresh rate and a U-shaped notch for the selfie camera. Samsung has used the MediaTek Helio P35 chipset as the driving unit on the Galaxy A04 and the Galaxy A04e. This entry-level octa-core processor features up to 4GB RAM and 128GB storage support. Both handsets also support an expandable microSD card support that will suffice additional storage requirements.

In addition to the display and chipset, both these new Galaxy A series phones feature a beefy 5,000 mAh battery unit. The charging speeds are standard (10W). Samsung has also added an adaptive power-saving mode that will help with battery saving.

Now coming to the main difference between the Galaxy A04 and the Galaxy A04e. Both these phones feature a dual rear camera setup but have different sensors. Tecno has scheduled the first sale starting January 9, 2023, in the country. Amazon’s product page confirms the Dimensity 9000 5G chipset under the Phantom X2’s hood. More details will be revealed in the coming weeks. As far as the pricing is concerned, the Amazon page or the official teaser doesn’t tip any information. But it’s expected to be around Rs. 25,000. This speculative pricing is as per the first Gen Phantom X’s launch price.

The Tecno Phantom X2 is officially confirmed to launch with the Dimensity 9000 5G chipset which is integrated with the Mali-G710 MC10 GPU. The processor is likely to be further combined with up to 8GB RAM and 256GB storage configuration. Android OS pre-loaded will be Android 12 which will be topped by HIOS 12.

The Phantom X2 is expected to debut in India with a 6.8-inch display. The AMOLED panel on the Phantom X2 will offer an FHD screen resolution of 1080 x 2400 pixels and layered with the Corning Gorilla Glass victus protection on top. The screen will also support a 120Hz refresh rate and have a punch-hole cutout accommodating a 32MP selfie lens.

The upcoming premium mid-rage Tencho Phantom series phone will be employing a triple-lens setup for primary imaging comprising a 64MP main sensor, a 13MP wide-angle lens, and a 2MP additional sensor. It will use a 5,160 mAh battery setup along with 45W fast charging.
