When OpenAI introduced its GPT-based chatbot ChatGPT to the public, it took the internet by storm, prompting some to declare that Google’s days as the search market leader are numbered. Although ChatGPT’s capacity to decipher challenging requests and offer human-like results are astounding, this does not imply that the search engine behemoth is devoid of hidden abilities.

Google has been at the forefront of technology innovation for many years, and its latest endeavor is no different. The company is reportedly getting ready to release a powerful chatGPT rival, which promises to revolutionize the way we interact with AI systems.

Sundar Pichai, the CEO of Google, has reportedly indicated that the company will soon make massive language models based on artificial intelligence such as LaMDA accessible to the general public.

What Is ChatGPT?

The Microsoft-backed AI research startup OpenAI created the AI-based chatbot ChatGPT. In November 2022, this chatbot was made available to the public. Due to its capacity to interpret prompts and provide human-like responses, ChatGPT has experienced significant growth since its launch.

The chatbot can be programmed to write essays, articles, jokes, poems, job applications, and more with the right commands. The abilities of ChatGPT have also gotten a lot of flak from educators all around the world and have already been banned in a few universities.

Recently, the chatbot’s premium version was also released by OpenAI named ChatGPT Plus, priced at $20 per month. It is currently available only for US customers and OpenAI is expected to invite more people from its waitlist in the coming weeks.

Google’s Plans For ChatGPT

During the company’s Q4 earnings call, Google CEO Sundar Pichai reportedly disclosed the company’s plans to introduce a ChatGPT rival. Google’s AI chatbot has been in development since early 2022, according to Pichai, and the company has “big plans” for it that are anticipated to be announced in the coming months.

Pichai said that users will be able to “interact directly” with Google’s “newest, most powerful language models as a companion to search” thanks to its AI. LaMDA, a Google AI chatbot, will be one of the first tools the general public will likely have access to. The only people with access to this technology have been Google’s developers and beta testers.

According to a recent The Verge report, the company has announced a search and AI event. Titled “Google presents: Live from Paris,” is scheduled for February 8. At this event, Google is likely to launch its own AI chatbot that will take on ChatGPT.
