Infinix Smart 7 HD: Design & Display

Infinix has improved the design of the Smart 7 HD, and you can feel the change when seeing or holding the phone. The phone is a bit heavy at 196 grams, but its 3D textured wave patterns on the back provide a good grip. The back panel is plastic and extends to the sides without any framing. The flat sides of the phone give it a premium feel, replacing the previous year’s tacky and curvy build. The smartphone is available in three colors: Jade White, Ink Black, and Silk Blue. We have got the Jade White variant for review.

Infinix Smart 7 HD Right Side

The rear of the phone has a square-shaped camera island holding two larger camera modules, a dual-LED flash, and a fingerprint scanner. On the front, it features a water-drop notch panel, which is expected for the price. The power button and volume rocker are on the right side, and a triple-slot SIM card tray is on the left. At the top, there is nothing present, but the bottom of it features a speaker grille, a USB Type-C port, and a 3.5mm headphone jack.

Infinix Smart 7 HD Display

Coming to the display, the phone has a 6.6-inch HD+ IPS display along with a 60Hz refresh rate panel. The screen is bright but less vibrant. It can play videos at 60fps without lag, thanks to the latest firmware update.

Infinix Smart 7 HD: Performance & Software

While the Infinix Smart 7 HD is not a performance-centric device for the price point, it still performs well for light usage. Jumping from one app to another is fast thanks to the tweaked speed of the animations on the phone. It can handle games like Asphalt 9, Subway Surfers, and Clash of Clans, but don’t expect a smooth experience with heavy titles like New State mobile. The Unisoc SC9863A1 octa-core chipset, just can’t handle it.

Infinix Smart 7 HD Bottom part

Despite this limitation, the device comes with 2GB of RAM and 64GB of onboard storage, which is rare at this price point. Additionally, there’s 2GB virtual RAM and a dedicated microSD card slot for additional storage of up to 1TB.

Android 12 powers the device, which includes some bloatware such as Palm Store, Hi Browser, and other proprietary applications. However, you can deactivate these apps to avoid receiving spam. While the brand doesn’t guarantee any updates, we anticipate that Infinix will upgrade the device to Android 13 in the upcoming months.

Infinix Smart 7 HD SIM Slot

At this price range, Infinix has provided both a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner and support for facial unlock, which is praiseworthy. However, the fingerprint scanner has a success rate of only 70 percent, and the facial unlock is prone to automatic disabling, requiring the user to enter their password manually due to security restrictions.

Further, the phone has only one speaker situated at the bottom, which produces a loud sound, but it may get muffled when playing games in landscape mode. The 3.5mm headphone jack is a useful addition since many users would prefer wired earphones in this price range.

Infinix Smart 7 HD Side Box

Overall, the Infinix Smart 7 HD is a capable budget phone for light usage. It may not be the best choice for heavy gaming or performance-intensive tasks, but for everyday use, it’s a solid option.

Infinix Smart 7 HD: Camera

Infinix Smart 7 HD Camera

The camera performance of the Infinix Smart 7 HD is average and may vary depending on your current smartphone. It has a dual camera setup on the back with an 8MP main lens and a dual-LED flash for low-light shots.

As it is with all Infinix phones, the default camera mode is the AI Cam, which captures decent images with steady hands and ample light. However, sharp lighting can sometimes spoil the images. Infinix has limited the camera features on the Smart 7 HD to only three modes besides the default AI Cam mode: Beauty, Portrait, and Panorama.

The 5MP selfie camera captures soft images, and using the beauty mode softens your skin tone further. The selfie flash on the phone makes selfies acceptable, and Infinix deserves credit for providing a front flash. The maximum video support is 1080p 30fps, and the video quality is average, which is expected for the price.

Infinix Smart 7 HD: Battery

The Infinix Smart 7 HD’s battery is one of its key strengths. It has a large 5,000mAh battery that lasts a long time. Even after hours of heavy usage, the battery percentage was still above 50 percent, which is great. This phone is easily a two-day phone on heavy usage and even longer if you’re just using it for WhatsApp and calling. This is perfect for older people who don’t want to constantly charge their phones.

Infinix Smart 7 HD Bottom

However, charging the Smart 7 HD to the brim wasn’t quick. Although it has a USB Type-C port, the charging brick inside the box takes nearly two hours to fully charge.

Overall, the Smart 7 HD’s battery life is insane and definitely a major advantage. So, if you’re looking for a phone with long battery life, the Smart 7 HD might just be the one for you.

Final Verdict

Infinix Smart 7 HD Review

Compared to other phones in its price range, the Infinix Smart 7 HD packs a punch with its impressive features. It sets a higher bar for smartphones under Rs. 7,000 by providing a good design that is not flashy, a large battery that can last for two days, and a range of software features. For casual phone users, it is a decent device. Additionally, due to its expandable storage and long battery life, it could serve as a great backup phone.
