When we speak of the best OTT platforms, Netflix is the biggest name in the global market. Netflix has a large user base in India as well. The vast movie and TV show library has helped the online streaming service add numerous users in the last few years. There have been some rumors suggesting additional charges for password sharing on Netflix. It seems that the company has already started with the monetization process on its platform by adding a new option where users will be charged extra bucks for sharing passwords with family and friends.

After all the anticipations, Netflix has finally introduced a new feature called “add extra member” in a bunch of global markets. This new option is also said to be called the “add home” feature in some of the other markets. This is for the regions where this option is yet to be released. For the unversed, the Netflix “Add Home” or “Add extra member” option will charge users extra bucks for password sharing.

For instance, if you wish to share your Netflix password with your friends or family members that don’t reside with you in the same house. In such scenarios, Netflix will charge you extra amount for sharing the password. Currently, the “Add extra member” feature is released in a couple of markets including Rica, Chile, and Peru.

As of now, users in the aforementioned regions are being charged for sharing passwords with users not connected to the same network. Going forward, the company is expected to expand this feature to other regions as well including Argentina, Dominican Republic, Guatemala, Honduras, El Salvador.

How Much Is The Extra Charge For Password Sharing On Netflix?

The pricing for Netflix password sharing is around 219 pesos in Argentina. This is around Rs. 300 as per Indian currency. Notably, for the other markets, the “Add home” or the “Add extra member” price is set at $2.99 which is approximately Rs. 240 in Indian currency. As of now, Netflix has not confirmed its plan to bring the “Add Home” feature to the Indian market. But the brand will possibly release this option soon in the country as well.

We are not yet sure how much it will cost to share a password Netflix password in India. But if we consider the price range of the international markets, it could be somewhere between Rs. 200- Rs. 400. This is just an estimation and the actual pricing might vary.
