JioGlass, the mixed reality headset from Reliance Jio, offering both augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR) experiences, was introduced at the India Mobile Congress 2023. This advanced wearable is set to make its way to the Indian market after its initial announcement at Reliance Jio’s 2020 Annual General Meeting.

Like other AR glasses, JioGlass provides users with the ability to view content on a large virtual screen and seamlessly switch between AR and VR modes, enhancing the overall user experience. Product Lineup

JioGlass

At the IMC 2023, Reliance Jio showcased its upcoming JioGlass mixed reality device. In addition to the JioGlass, the company has unveiled two other products designed for displaying VR content: the affordable JioDive VR headset and the JioGlass, which is expected to carry a higher price point.

Price Expectations

While pricing details for JioGlass have not yet been disclosed, it is anticipated to compete with products like the AjnaXR Pro and AjnaXR SE, which are priced at Rs. 1,54,999 and Rs. 84,999, respectively. JioGlass was developed by the startup Tesseract, which was acquired by the Indian tech conglomerate and is listed as “coming soon” on the official website.

Display And Eye Comfort

The JioGlass mixed reality device boasts dual full-HD displays with a 40-degree field-of-view, creating a virtual screen that simulates a 100-inch display. It also comes with TÜV Rheinland certification for low blue light emissions, reducing eye strain. The device supports magnetic prescription lenses, which need to be fitted by an optician.

Advanced Sensor Technology

JioGlass

Equipped with a proximity sensor and a nine-axis inertial measurement unit (IMU) sensor, JioGlass runs on an unspecified processor, offering a quick 5-second boot-up time and up to four hours of runtime in 3D mode thanks to its 4,000mAh battery.

Connectivity

JioGlass features a USB Type-C port for easy connection to iOS or Android smartphones with DisplayPort support, as well as Windows or Mac computers. It also includes an integrated microphone for taking voice calls directly through the headset.
