5G Network In India: Reliance Jio And Airtel Might Launch Services On 1 October

The much-awaited 5G services will be launched on Saturday (October 1st) at the India Mobile Congress show. The 5G services will be launched by PM Narendra Modi at the same event. Besides, Sunil Bharti Mittal, Mukesh Ambani, and Kumar Mangalam Birla are likely to be at the event.

For the unaware, the Department of Telecommunication received Rs. 1.56 lakh crore in the recently concluded 5G spectrum auction, where Reliance Jio emerged as the number one telecom brand in the spectrum auction.

In addition, the official website of the Indian Mobile Congress shows that the PM will be inaugurating the event. Notably, the event has been organized by the Department of Telecommunications, Ministry of Communications, and Cellular Operator Association of India.

It is important to note that the Minister of State for Communication recently said that the country will get 5G coverage in the coming years.

Reliance Jio And Airtel 5G Services: Details

Reliance Jio is planning to launch its 5G services by this year Diwali in several cities. “We plan to increase the Jio 5G footprint month after month. By December 2023, which is less than 18 months from today, we will deliver Jio 5G to every town, every taluka, and every tehsil of our country,” Reliance Industries (RIL) chairman Mukesh Ambani said.

Apart from Reliance Jio, India’s second-largest telecom operator Airtel will also launch the 5G services by the end of the next year. “By December, we should have coverage in key metros. After that, we will expand rapidly to cover the entire country,” said Gopal Vittal, the chief executive of the second largest telecom operator. Meanwhile, Vodafone-Idea has joined hands with two smartphone makers such as Vivo and OnePlus to drive 5G technology in the country.
