We have seen a horde amongst the mobile chipset manufacturers for designing game-centric processors specifically for low-end and mid-range phones. MediaTek’s Helio G series has several such options that meet the demands of entry-level mobile gamers. The previous offering from the company in this segment includes the Helio G25 and the Helio G35 SoC. Now, MediaTek has released the successor of the latter called the Helio G36 which is also a potent gaming chipset for budget Android phones. What all upgrades do the Helio G36 get over the Helio G35? Details are below:

The latest MediaTek Helio G36 mobile chipset will sit between the Helio G35 and the Helio G37 SoC. Besides a slightly slower 100MHz speed, the Helio G36 is almost similar to the Helio G37 in terms of architecture and other features. MediaTek has used the same 12nm TSMC fabrication process to design the Helio G36 as the Helio G37.

The Helio G36’s CPU cluster will be octa-core which remains the same as the Helio G35 and the Helio G37. However, the cores are ARM Cortex-A53 with up to 2.2GHz clock speed. The GPU integrated inside the G36 SoC is IMG Power GE8320 which is also present in its older sibling. Both CPU and GPU efficiency is good with the Helio G36 and one can expect a similar performance delivery as the MediaTek Helio G35 and the Helio G37 processors.

Furthermore, the MediaTek Helio G36 mobile processor gets HyperEngine 2.0 lite and Network Engine 2.0 technologies for an improved gaming experience and faster connectivity response. Furthermore, the MediaTek Helio G36 chipset has compatibility with FHD+ display supporting 1080p screen resolution and 90Hz refresh rate.
The Helio G36 will also come with up to 50MP (single) and 13MP (dual) maximum camera resolution support. The chipset further comes with up to 1080p video recording and playback support at 30fps. In terms of connectivity, the Helio G37 will offer standard 4G VoLTE, dual-band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.0, and GPS networks.
Upcoming Phones Powered By Helio G36
As of now, only the launch of the MediaTek Helio G36 mobile processor is announced. Smartphone OEMs are yet to confirm the list of smartphone models that will be using the Helio G36 for power delivery. However, considering it is an entry-level Android phone, we can expect popular OEMs such as OPPO, Vivo, Tecno, Realme, and other to launch Helio G36-powered gaming handsets with an affordable price label.
