WhatsApp Will No Longer Work On These iPhones: Details Inside

WhatsApp will stop working on some older Apple iPhones over the coming month. The company has said that starting later this year it will end support for iOS 10 and iOS 11 devices. The instant messaging app has started warning iPhone users running on older iOS 10 or iOS 11 versions to update their iPhones to keep using WhatsApp after October 24, cites a report via WABetaInfo. WhatsApp’s updated support article stated that iOS 12 is now the baseline for iPhone users.

Which Devices Will Be Affected By This?

There are not a lot of iPhones that are still running on iOS 10 or iOS 11. The iPhone 5 and iPhone 5c are the only two models in the iPhone series. If you have one of these iPhones, you won’t be able to use WhatsApp on your iPhone from October 24. The iPhone 5s, iPhone 6, and 6s users have the option of updating their iOS versions to be supported by WhatsApp for years to come. They will be informed if their iPhones stop supporting the instant messaging platform.

Although, both the iPhone 5 and the 5c are nearly a decade old phones at this point. However, some users who prefer the iPhone 5 and 5c’s compact form factor may have to update shortly. Although, they do have the option of purchasing an iPhone 12 or 13 Mini which keeps the compactness while providing substantial power under the hood.

How To Update WhatsApp On iPhone?

The steps to update WhatsApp are fairly simple on iOS devices (iPhones). The step for the same are listed below:

Step 1: Go to Settings.

Step 2: Go to General.

Step 3: Click on Software Update.

The Meta-owned app wants to improve the security of the conversation and other in-app features with this change. According to WABetaInfo, WhatsApp will stop working for the above-mentioned iOS users on October 24, 2022. Users will have five months to update their iOS devices. To fully experience the features of WhatsApp, you’ll need to be on iOS 12 or higher.
